Default Re: Najena's Ring of Readiness - Analysis

Ring of Blood and Rage never comes off. Blackened Band has been in my ring slot for over a year now, I sometimes switch it out for Najena ring, but never really done any in-depth testing.
I guess now with the Bands non-critting proc, I should really do some research into which is better for me..

Anybody done this already, so that I can be lazy? :p

Actually, i'm going to petition that I be allowed ten ring slots, I do have ten fingers/thumbs after all!

Traxor, this one's for you...

As for everyone else with intelligence, keep posting away with your questions/feedback.

As far as Blackened Band goes, some guildies wear it, and the proc DPS doesn't do a whole heck of a lot these days like it used to (highest hit is ~7k), but still adds around 100-200 dps. Which is better than most procs by a long shot. Ignoring both the Najena clicky and the BBoD proc, BBoD is better stats for raw DPS anyway (5 crit 125 spell damage, vs 4 crit 60 spell damage).

Especially in the case of BBoD, if the procs decide to happen real early in the fight (where they will do the least damage) and you get no procs later in the fight, it's DPS will be significantly lower. That's true with just about any proc, but even moreso with BBoD's proc.

In the end I think both are acceptable rings, with edge probably going to BBoD. Though for really short fights (10 to 20 seconds), Najena's clicky trumps all if you can get your biggest hitters off within the 10 second span (Master Strike, Bewilderment, Winds of Velious, Fiery Annihilation), in my opinion.

I don't plan on taking off Ring of Blood and Rage anytime soon either. 3 crit bonus, plus Transposition proc, is next to impossible to replace.

I think i'll make another macro then, switch it out as and when.
I think the highest that I ever saw Band crit for was just short of 30k.. makes me sad just thinking about it now.

Just out of curiosity, what are you guys wearing on both wrist slots? I have pretty much every fabled/raid wrist item for a caster, besides avatar shit, and most seem pretty god-awfuly painfully average.

Bangle of the Spiteful seems so crap compared to the other loot from Zarrakon, got it hoping they might tweak it later.. guess not

You can't swap rings out mid-combat, and the Najena ring only lasts 10 seconds, so barely does crap if you're precasting and swapping ring out.

I wear Dark-Metal Ingot & Bangle of the Spiteful for my wrists. Yeah it's kind of bland compared to what everyone else gets on his loot table, but 4 reuse is hard to pass up at the same time.

Yeah I know that it cant be switched mid-combat, but I'm sure I might be able to get one or two spells off before the 10 secs wears off, even getting the boost to Winds would be worth the extra effort.

Same two as me then. More wrists and less rings, I say!

The best use for Najena's ring is for taunting sorcerer's that dont have it then I guess

Bangle of portals is an awesome wrist item. That and that 2 crit bonus thingi from palace trash if you don't need spelldamage very much.

That's what I think anyways :-p

Did you see very high crits with fiery annilation on the training dummys, my necro was seeing 5k+ hits on the first hit with bloodcoil with the ring on while almost all the other spells had little to no difference, with dispatch on mobs I was seeing 8k+ crits.

You don't see huge crits on the training dummy because your debuffs aren't even remotely close to what Dispatch can do. That's assuming your pet decides to proc & cast them at all.

I imagine the effect for necros is much less pronounced than it is for Conjurors, since the only spell you really have with a ginormous +Spell Damage cap (besides MS and Bewilderment) is Bloodcoil.
