    With O-Stance they were:

    3,843,139
    3,851,856
    3,290,801
    AVG:
    3,661,932

So two were close, but the third was way off.

    With lvl 14 D-Stance:

    3,834,862
    4,369,826
    4,369,826
    AVG:
    4,191,505

So the last two were identical, but the first one was way off.

If you take the averages of the 3 tests, there is a 14.46% increase by changing to D-Stance. So there is definitely some sort of mechanic that changes the hit of SB and makes it vary by some degree.

I also understand that in a raid (or even group) setting, these number mean little. I'm just curious on the mechanic that determines the hit.

It seems to me like in a raid setting this would be ideal, however in heroic zones I'll continue to use O-Stance since most PUG tanks have a hard time with hate as it is.
Your pet casts mitigation debuffs that affect the damage of Soulburn. To test it properly, you have to get your pet engaged on the mob, back it off, then wait for any debuffs it used to fade. You also have to not attack the mob yourself during the testing to avoid your own procs causing changes.

Alright, I guess I forgot the pet cast debuffs. Just tested it again and its all the same thing. Trying to figure out the math behind it, and cant really figure it out. If I'm reading the spell correctly, it takes 150% of pet health as instant damage. If I'm to believe what possess minion says about pet health, SB is hitting for 705.6% (my CB is nowhere near that) of (pet health)*(1.5). So I still dont understand it lol. IDK why I'm so worried about it I'm just curious.

Two things: Debuffs, training dummies cap extremely low, and the first thing your pet casts is minion's mark. When something is fully debuffed it takes 1.5x the dmg. You are also probably not including ur innate critical multiplier which is effectively like an additional 50 crit bonus on top of what u already have.

I waited for minions mark to wear off before I SB'd. I guess I get the idea behind it, dont really need to know the whole math behind it since its going to vary based on a whole multitude of things.
