Opinions on a new duo/group Defiler?
Hello there, been a fan of this site for a little while, but only recently made an account, and this is actually only my third post. Been playing the game since it's launch day with a Coercer main, but I have tons of alts, ranging from another 70 (Fury) to a bunch of mid-level toons.
Anyways, I recently PL'd an SK for the means of soloing and he is now up to lvl 61. Then I decided to PL a Defiler alt on another account to have a healer to duo with him, so that toon is a lowbie lvl 25 atm (2 days old). She is pretty much going to be a duo/group toon, no raiding involved.
So far at her current level, I think it's pretty obvious I'm nowhere near concerned about her gear atm, especially while being PL'd by a mentored down 61 SK. BUT, when the time comes when I need to start thinking about it, I'd like to know what some of you think about stats/types of gear for a small-group-type Defiler.
As far as AA goes, I started with the Defiler tree and only have 13 AA so far, placed in the left side with 3 in Torpid Chant, 5 in Emergency Warding, and 5 in Abhorrent Shroud. Looking for input on where to spend the rest of my AA, because I'm not too familiar with the Defiler tree at the moment. I have a Mystic alt on my SK's account, so I know what the shaman tree looks like, but since I molded that toon as a "solo-experiment" (please don't ask... I was bored), I'm not too sure how effective some of the other lines are, or what would be the best route on that tree for the Defiler. Thoughts?

LOL, fair enough. I can be a long-winded prick at times, I admit. I was wondering how long it would take somebody to find something to rip into me about. Third post was a tad sooner than I thought, but fuck it, that's how it goes sometimes.
But since it's started now... did you actually have anything insightful to add, or did you just want to bitch to waste more of your time?

ya screw the pet get yourself a hard hitting high dmg 2h and go sta/agi or wis/int. Play around with them some imo. For grinding up your best bet is agi/sta though. Melee crit's, heal crits, rage from agi and quick cures/double attack just can't be beat for dps for us provided you have a high dmg hitting weapon.

I was toying around with that concept actually. Yeah, I'll have the dps-molded SK alongside her, but the thought of getting a little bit more dps out of the Defiler as well intrigued me. I may go that route, at least while PL'ing her, just to see how it works out. If I don't like it, I can always respec. But really, if I get the adept 3/master level spells for the wards/heals, it's not like putting AA into dps is going to take away from her healing ability or anything. So I might stick with that setup after all.

Re: Opinions on a new duo/group Defiler?
5 points into emergency warding is a waste of 2 points that could be used somewhere else to suit your playstyle.
Not a flame, but if you "need" the faster recast on our emergency wards then you need to re-evaluate your healing approach.

No offense taken...funny thing is, I already ditched those points before you posted.
It wasn't a lack of ability to play efficiently, it was a lack of experience with a warding healer. Both my Mystic and Defiler are lowbies which I have leveled through to the 26-30 range mostly on collections. I just got in a bunch of playing time on her these past few days, and realized a couple nights ago the emergency ward wasn't worth the points, especially duo'ing with an SK.
I now have a much better vision for what I want her to be able to do.
