When do you use Deathward?

I had always read that you should use deathward just like a regular ward..throw it out whenever it's up. However, recently I've found myself out of emergency spells (soul ward, death prev, etc.) toward the end of a long raid fight and wishing I had a fast casting ward up (aka deathward) when the tank is at like 5% health (when I don't think I'll even have time to spend even 1.5 seconds casting before he's dead). I know that it's a very small ward, but don't you think it's worth saving for situations like this to give you even a second longer for you and the templar to heal him up to a safe health?
I also sometimes wish it was up to use when my single target ward is down, and my group ward is up but it's not exactly safe to start casting such a long spell (he's in orange and going down fast, for example)..to use and to give me a safe window of time to cast the group ward right after.
What do you guys do with deathward?

I use deathward as a regular ward myself and if there is need for an emergency ward to save the tanks ass after I used the other 2 e-wards I pop soul ward followed by a Ritual enhanced wild accretion.

Too bad our emergency group ward is bugged and only has a 10 meter radius

. I don't even bother using it to save the tank because 99% of the time in a raid situation it doesn't even reach him.
Mystic one is fine, but defiler one is still bugged after numerous bug reports.

I tend to time it with ae's/pull so tank gets the damage reduction, but on non-heavy ae fights, or non-heavy damage fights, just like a regular ward.

You have a single target and group emergency ward (granted range on group sux), Ancestral Avenger, and Soul Ward for "Oh-shit" situations. If you need Deathward for another emergency then there are other issues. As noted above, use it as often as it is up and not as a preward or you loose the 5s damage reduction (assuming you spec'd for it).

i use it whenever its up typically, unless there are 2 aes incoming on top of each other soon after it pops up like zionn said, then i'll use it then

I cast it on pull for big ae or heavy hitter fights and make it the last ward cast on preward for the damage redux since it helps till the mobs get a few debuffs. Other thn that it's in my regular rotation. On some fights though, like Dranik said, if I know there are a few aes hitting at the same time, I'll drop that on the tank and use my single on me or someone else in the grp.

i still save mine for small emergencys, mostly that includes if tank gets to close to half health. otherwise i cast just before stun aoes or aggro switching such as xebnok.

To me it's just another ward, slightly sub-par and about half as effective as my ST ward, so I throw it whenever. I'm more interested it the chance that it will trigger hateshield than anything else.

i use it when i dont have single target ward and group ward up on tank or when one of the 2 are low and about to be eaten so while im casting anohther one the tank has the reduction on him
