You can single target ward the people with chokers so that it doesn't eat the group ward.

I would advise u to use Agi line just 4 in each buff until u get to healcrit and max it, then get STA line all the way with max in fast cure, and Wis with max in 8% reuse time.

Defiler tree i as Alaocia said soul, canni and hex.

for the Shadow tree its like Razīs said.

About how to heal and that stuff i dont worry to much about the Choker guys, wards got heals added to them now and with the STA line they get to 0% HP and not dying they simply stop doing dps until u get a heal on them.

Also alot of people allready gave u alot of tips and info how to play a shaman.

GL in the future as shaman.

You may want to consider looking at custom ui's if ur making cure macros; I use profitui reborn and can set it to not queue and interrupt whatever i'm casting, also it has neat little macros built in. unlike default, u dont have to switch targets to cure, heal, ward...it makes life easier and tons faster . it'll make u more efficient

tbh, hotkey curing is faster than click to cure (for the most part); but some people just don't like it b/c they loooove their mouse or just have slow fingers.

However, I stand fully behind a custom UI of some kind, be it Razieh's, Profit, or other (as each was created to add functionality to help with efficiency)

Just heal through it; with a good enough tank and enough dps, it shouldn't be a problem. If it becomes a problem, ask folks to take it off.

Also be on the lookout for suicidal tanks wearing the ring from the sisters in SoH -- unlike the choker, that thing's damage goes straight to hp, bypassing wards... so if you see your tank's health dropping even though wards are up, see if he's using it and ask him to swap if it's a problem.

For UI, stuff like:

EQ2Interface : [DragowulfUI] SpellTimer Window : [DragowulfUI] SpellTimer Window
EQ2Interface : Defiler Wards Windows : Defiler Wards Windows

is hiding inside the "Miscellaneous" section on eq2interface and can be quite helpful. (I spent a while last night and hacked up one of those to change the layout some, specifically to make the points remaining numbers bigger... I'll post the changed version at some point.)

Edit: got my modified version uploaded:

I would have to disagree with this slightly. In TSO it is VERY easy to cap out heal crit. Remember heal crit is NOT contested like other offensive stats so 100 heal crit does the job. Assuming you are in a MT group you will get crit from your coercer and dirge and will be able to use pots and scrolls for crit. IMO keep agi line only untill you are at about 60-70 crit. Once you pass that point dump it and pick up str instead. The AOE avoid is pimp this expansion and the 16 haste isnt bad either. Your MT scout will love you because in the standard MT group its hard to get haste. I also get the last ability in WIS line instead of the last ability in STA line. I also would advice only putting 4-5 points in faster cures. Go through the operation of counting how much casting speed you get from gear and buffs. You will find that 4-5 points is more than enough to cap you out on casting speed.

For the defiler line I have my spec like you said. I understand the arguement for taking Hex over Canni, but I am addicting to my canni and often chanters who I am with are more concerned about dps than power regen.

Shadows I have the same as Raz with one exception. I dont have the 5 points in maelstrom ( i think that is the name of the spell, TBH I am not sure if I have even cast it yet this expansion) and I put 5 points in deathward instead. Both options are pretty marginal IMO but if you time it correct and get the order of wards correct the 10% reduction to inc damage is sorta nice, although it is pretty short duration.

one quibble. I don't know what your other shadow choices were, but raz has 5 in Prophetic protection (deathward) as well. He has BOTH pandemic and Prophetic Protection.

Like I said I am not sure what your other shadow choices were, but I would choose to get both!

Ya, I see that now. I am not in game atm so I am having issues connecting aa names with what they do. I know I didn't take pandemic but I am having issues figuring out what the exact differences are between our specs. I retract that portion of my statement :P
