New to 80 Defiler Gear Question

Hi there

Just hit level 80 a couple days ago and have some questions. I am in full T1 (no other 80s, shard groups hard to come by), with mismatched jewelery, and my fabled weapon. I'm currently sitting at 25% crit unbuffed (without the AGI line). I asked some people if a ring with 75 heal amount or 3% crit would be better, and they said the crit. Can you please explain why a pisspoor amount of crit would outweigh 75 health per heal? Furthermore, how do you get those crit numbers as high as 75% unbuffed, does that just come with T2, T3 etc?

75 heal amount is much better than 3 crit chance. It is about a 4:1 ratio for heal mod to crit chance, and I'm assuming you are nowhere near the cap for either. Yep, higher-tiered gear will give you higher numbers. So go seek out those shards and patterns!

yup shard armor helps a lot with crits; also some shard-instance gear has pretty good stats.

If you're starving for crit %, you can always adorn your weapon and helm with +3% each (could be costly for the Smoldering Blessed Imprint + Pontiff's Second Sight, but the 6% is a step in the right direction).

Don't forget about some of the nice RoK pieces as well, the Gift of the Queen (from MC) has +5%, Vyx Locket (from PR) has +4%
For TSO: OOA has a shield with 4%, HT has a symbol with 5%

So with those 2 adorns and 4 new pieces of gear (all easy to get, but potentially time consuming!) you get an extra 24%, that is w/out shard gear, period.

Oh, and Aiden of WoE has a nice (upgradable) Cloak, better than the RE2 cloak imo; has somewhere around +4% crit and +75 heal mod and even benevolent alacrity after the upgrade iirc

I base my choice on how much heal crit and heal amount I already have. It's going to be harder to max out heal amount, unless you're in a raid with mythical fury and have their click buff. Heal crit is on most everything you'll see later on. For example, I'm sitting at 83% heal crit without AGI line or buffs (and have plenty of +5 and +6% heal crit bagged if I ever wanted to max it out for giggles).

So heal crit should come easily once you start obtaining more gear.

I still like to keep a steady balance, as once you start getting heal crit BONUS items, the stat will be even more potent than the base 15% it gives currently.
