Default Defiler Pet Question

For Aura of Warding it states that every time your pet attacks, there is a chance that a group ward will be cast on the party.

What I was wondering, was when you use leg bite and spec with Ancient Pedegree on the Shadow line, does that increase the group ward proc rate or is it strictly limited to the pets auto attack?

Also what is a recommended heal crit rate to be at in order to drop the agility line and go to str? Thx!

I dropped AGI around 70-75% heal crit and that seems to be around what other defilers have done.

I believe the aura of warding will proc off any non-proc attack of your pet. I don't think leg bite counts towards that, since it's technically a buff you trigger onto him to give him a single shot proc. I'm not sure if the ability he gains from the shaman Shadows endline is an extra triggerable CA he gets or a proc effect. As a general rule of thumb, procs shouldn't trigger procs though.

In a raid setup even if it's a X2 I end up going over 100 crit easily so Str is good for that setup, but for instances I am usually around 98% or so with buffs so I haven't made the switch yet. I am fully T3 now but just got my epic a week or so ago, so need to go through the motions of getting the myth. With the extra 6% heal crit of the myth I will drop the agil line all together. I still do some solo questing too so my AA mirror has a str line spec in it, but its more or a solo spec than a healing one.

Out of curiosity, can you use the dog on fights like Druusk where the mob has a damage shield? The has AE immunity but I assume if it attacks druusk its just going to die or is that incorrect?

The point of the dog attacking is to trigger the group ward, interrupts, and AE immunity. The only thing your dog provides when not attacking is haste, but everyone is already capped on haste. So if you don't send in the dog because you want it to live, then you might as well not have summoned the dog at all.

When people or pets attack Druushk they will take damage. You just have to heal through it. And if you really can't keep up with it, send in the dog anyway until it kills itself which would be slightly better than nothing.

as pinski once said somewhere, procs dont proc procs but neither leg bite nor ancient pedigree is technically a proc. i had heard initially when tso first came out that ap did in fact proc wards but i am not sure how you'd be able to tell

leg bit is a proc, its a buff you put on your pet that has a chance to proc leg bite, its just 100% chance to proc

as far as AP goes, all it does it gives your pet a CA to cast, so ancient claws can trigger procs (just check ACT)can it proc aura of warding? not sure tbh, but if it can proc on a CA then yes.

Since Aura of Warding is a proc based on % of attacks rather than 2.0 times a minute or whatever, will haste help it to proc more often?

naw that's initially how every proc description was before they normalized it as a rate of procs / minute
