Default Combined Defiler Thread for SF - AAs, Gear, Red Adorns, Ward Procs

    General Information.

World wide Defiler channel: /join guk.defilers
Can find the walk through to get your epic here.

    Old outdated information thread here.

    ================================================== ===============

    AA Spec (heal)

With Sentinels Fate, there is now a limit of 250 AAs. Which gives a lot more flexibility to what you can get.

Pre-SF there seemed to be 2 specs that were used. Dogdog spec and Coagulate. Now you can have both if you so chose. There was also new lines and endlines added to the Shaman tree and Defiler tree as well. There now seems to be two new specs that are being used, Dogdog and Tribal Rage.

These are what I have in mind for my AA specs as I reach 250.

    Shaman Tree:

    Dogdog Spec:

This spec is great for having your dog, block AEs (as it always did) and with the new SF line have your dog cure ~12% of the time.

    Tribal Rage Spec:

This spec seems to out parse HPS-wise the dogdog spec, with adding a ~3k ward to your arsenal of healing capabilities. But it also makes you cure more as no AE blocks and no dogdog curing.

On both specs, having Ancestral Channeling is a nice HoT. Seeing crits for as high as 20k. Nice to use after SW or to just get your group topped off again after an AE just hit. Also, I find that in raid, with just 4 points into group cure reuse, I am at the 10 sec reuse cap.

I personally never used dogdog spec in TSO, as I always felt Coagulate gave me more. In SF I gave dogdog a 2nd chance, but having to recast him so much I wasn't happy still. I am now Tribal Rage specced and loving it. Also with new gear, we loose a lot of crit, so AGI line helps with that.

This last spec, is out of respect to the defiler community. It is a hybrid of the 2 above. I personally don't feel this is a great spec, but some will swear by it. This spec is going to be best suited for solo healing or not having a tank in group. Spiritual Leadership won't do as well as it would in a tank group, but still will add the wards when needed. In an instance its not that great either; not many AEs to block, nor many AEs to use the ward from SL but will help your own DPS. You loose coagulate in this spec, which means loss of 1.3k HP per person in group but gain a ~700 ward that is up almost always.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Defiler Tree:

This tree has a lot of useful abilities, for tanks, for raid, and for self.
Our staple AA Soulward is an awesome oh-shit button to save the tank (or someone else if you feel like it) from dieing.
Cannibalize is a nice AA for getting power back, and it does crit for more than the listed 10%.
Hexation has been changed to be used more often, with a slight nerf to the trigger chance. This should be cast when ever it is up.
Atrophyweaving is also nice to help get the debuffs on the mob in between your wards.
With our new SF line, we got a boost to our group ward, and Noxious Shroud adding 5 crit bonus to group.
Ancestral Cleansing is decent with wards critting for as high as 3k when you cur something.
Malicious Spirits is something I quite enjoy, just for the fact of turning an encounters AE auto attack off, but is useful for raid when you know AEs are inc and need a little help with reducing the potency of the mobs AEs.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Shadow Tree:

The shadows tree is pretty basic and strait forward.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    M2 Choice

The level 64 Grandmaster (m2) choice should be Tendrils of Horror (as it doesn't get upgraded).

The level 85 Grandmaster (m2) choice should be Shroud of Armor.

Also, a side note, make sure you get the master for Umbral Trap (level 35) and Atrophy VI (level 66) as both don't have higher versions.

    Red Adornments:

These are in my opinion the ones a MT defiler should be using, and I would say this is the order to get them in as well.

    \aITEM -806619409 -1451954014:Focus: Tendrils of Horror III\/a

The other red adorns for completeness, also still keeping in order from best to worst.

    \aITEM -258982485 -1765941718:Focus: Absolute Corruption V\/a

For non MT defiler (i.e. solo healer, OT, instance, etc), I would swap Tendrils for Vehemence focus.

    Ward Procs:

The most extensive ward proc guide evar!

All ward procs stack unless otherwise noted.

    Single Target Ward Procs:

    Runic Deflection (2420 ward amount)
    Runic Deflection I (2400)
    Runic Deflection II (2800)
    Runic Deflection III (3200)
Higher tier will overwrite lower tier, though RD and RDI will overwrite each other, RDII will over write both. These ward procs are very powerful as they are affected by potency. So, as the item may only say 2400, it can do much much more as your potency goes up. Side note, potency doesn't always seem to affect these procs, but haven't pinned down why they are sometimes and sometimes not.
    -

Runic Absorption I (700 ward amount)
    Runic Absorption II (1000)
    Runic Absorption III (1300)
Theses procs will overwrite the last one applied, no matter the tier. RAII will overwrite RAI or RAIII, etc. Also, having two items with RA will increase the chances of it proccing, but each target can still only have 1 proc of RA at a time.
    -

    Hateshield (1500 + regen of 20%/2sec)
    Escape Death (2000 + 25%/2sec)
    Ancient Invigoration I (1000 + 25%/2sec)
    Ancient Invigoration II (2400 + 20.8%/2sec)
    Ancient Invigoration III (2800 + 21.4%/2sec)
These are the best ward procs in game, and every healer should have at least one item with one of these procs. These wards all regenerate every 2 seconds. All of these wards do not stack with each other, nor can you have more than one of the same on you at a time, in addition AI1 will get over written by AI2. These wards do not stack with each other however. Instead, they use a tier system where if you have a higher tier on you and a lower tier one, the lower tier one will not get used up until the higher tier one expires. The lower tier one will NOT be used if the higher tier version is at 0 ward. Lastly, these procs are affected by potency and after they apply they start to regen up to the new max with potency calculated in. The % regen every 2 sec is based off the calculated potency number not the items base ward

The tier order from highest priority to lowest is:
Ancient Invigoration III > Ancient Invigoration II > Escape Death > Hateshield > Ancient Invigoration I

Which means, if you have Faded Black Hood(Escape Death) and T3 pants(Ancient Invigoration II), the T3 pants would take priority over the FBH proc.
    -

Ancestral Barrier (500 ward amount + regen of 100/5sec)
    Greater Ancestral Barrier (750 + 150/5sec)
    Frozen Memory (620 + 620/5sec)
Ancestral Barrier's wards from t8 TSO shard/WoE gear. Higher tier overwrites lower tier. Can have on multiple people in group. Also, seems to be affected by +potency proc items that proc after the AB proc is up, increasing the + regen ticks and the max capacity of the ward, until the +potency proc item is used by another spell.

I do not have the Frozen Memory earring, as I would assume it works the same, I would need someone to test it if they wished.

    -

    Blood Nourishment (1520 ward amount)
    Unearthly Vigor (2200)
These single target wards are pretty simple. You can only have one of the same name on one person at a time. Similar to Runic Absorption, just different name.
    -

    Group Ward Procs:

Sacred Territory I (1200 ward for each person(and pet) in group)
    Sacred Territory II (1400)
    Sacred Territory III (1600)
    Will from Temperance (1092)
    Circling Wall of Memories (825)
Rune Meld (500 ward + regen of 50%/5sec)
These wards are an interesting bunch. Each person gets the ward when it procs. They get kind of a bad rap, as if the ward isn't used up, it ticks for a 0 heal, lowering the average hit in ACT. Different named group procs do stack with each other.

Also, Sacred Territory procs, do not stack with same tier, they simply overwrite each other. Having two different tiers does seem to stack though.

I have seen most of these proc for way more than what is stated though, guessing from SOE's poor coding (big surprise). As an example, I have parses numerous times Sacred Territory II proccing from more than 3000 on a person, rather than the stated 1400. Seems as if potency sometimes affects them, as before potency was uncapped I would see only 2800 as a high hit, which is 100% potency applied. Now with it uncapped its going over that number. I still haven't been able to pin down what does it.

Also, our mythical proc (8% potency to heals) seems to affect Rune Meld, both on base ward and regen (regening 50% back every 5 seconds)

    Other Information:

It is beneficial to get the \aITEM -384578194 -1996911856:Rougarou Hood\/a, as the buff does add 2 more crit, if you are low. Aswell as 2% Dodge and 12 STA. Downside, though not really a bad thing really, is you loose 20 WIS. (the buff stays on even after unequipping it, will have to recast if you respec)

Minor question - In the shaman tree why would you put more points into Ritual of Magic instead of Ritual now that Ritual applies to wards?

In raids I hit cap on both wards with out using Ritual. Last few days I macro'd ritual to my group ward to see if it helped, and I still was getting 19~22k group wards. Ritual of Magic makes sure I land my debuffs in between my very important wards on the MT. Also, the only potency proc item I use is Blackened Pearlescent Bangle.

I could see putting more points into Ritual if I didn't raid as much, and wasn't spoiled by always having Coercive Healing. Maybe do a 6/6 split on the AAs.

Hey, that still doesn't change the fact I am capping the potency on the wards, w/o fury I see 15~17k wards instead!

What you have is basically how my mirror specs are set up. I haven't made a final decision on staying with AGI line or STR line the majority of the time, but I swap between them depending on my current mood. When I can keep the dog alive, he blocks a significant amount of AOE's and seems to cure quite a bit. There's a few fights where he is utterly useless or requires you to joust him out to avoid eating your wards.

I am curious how you're getting such high wards, though. I'm able to get to around 90% potency with Ritual +procs and my group ward (without fury) is capping out at about 13.2k (coercive healing, 59% crit bonus, ~90% potency with ritual and all procs up). With fury mythical I end up getting about 16k-17k on group ward. What am I missing that would net the extra 3-4k?

I can only assume my crit bonus is that much lower than yours, but that seems like a large chunk that I'm missing. I want to has your sekrits!

    Good writeup, though!

I sit at 93 crit bonus in raids with current gear.

My group ward hasn't gone past 13k. Guess I still have loads of gearing up to do

Btw, wich spec do you guys use most? Dog or tribal rage? Kinda doubting about wich I should use. Currently have the dog spec.
