Oh nos, noob defiler questioning!
So for over a year I have been a raiding templar, I just recently started playing a Defiler instead.
I did not level this character, it was kind of thrown at me as the guild needed one. Lets not dwell on that mmkays?! ><
I do not know anything about being a shaman. Thats not entirely accurate, I know the basics of being a shaman.
To get to my point though, and I don't care if this makes me sound completely noobish, because *I* don't know and I am not afraid to admit it.. I need help on my KOS AA's.
I am the MT shaman obviously.. Defiler.. right now I am specced
AGI 4 4 4 8
WIS 7 8 4 8 1
I see a lot of people stating go STR.. We puppy pull a lot, pet dies, I have to spend time recasting it etc. Is it really worth me getting that line?
The heal crit is basically the only reason I am down the AGI line..as I am really not focusing on the meleeing/dps aspect of a shaman atm.. so I am guessing its safe to say your heal crit counts on wards?
But then again I am not entirely sure about going down the WIS line for Ritual and Alacrity..
Then I see a lot of shamans down the STA line for the faster curing and purple club enlargement...
Apparently I have 4 choices, and I just have no idea what to go down.
Any help or input would be very very informative for me, as like I said.. I have no idea how to play a raiding shaman and I tried reading back forums and wading through all the bullshit is tiring. Plus most of the other forums turned into a fight, and I didn't really learn anything.
The EOF lines were easier, I didnt even do research.. I went Curseweaving/Cannibalize and didn't have to put my thought into it..
the KOS lines are making my head hurt! ><
Thanks peeps.

Re: Oh nos, noob defiler questioning!
I went Str/Sta for the pet and aoe avoidance (pet also helps ward, not sure how much % wise though), and sta for double attack, faster cures.
I don't raid as much as most people anymore and tend to 2 box more but it helps either way.

Re: Oh nos, noob defiler questioning!
In general either Str/Wis or Agi/Wis seem to be the most common KoS builds. Stamina line is overrated, faster cures????, just learn the timing of the encounter and no need for them.
Str line has some drawbacks due to the paperbag nature of our pet, but with proper positioning on the mob it should not die. If it's always placed at the back of the mob you should have no problems, learn to /petstay it in the area pre-pull or just move it to the back after the tank sets the mob up. Several posts here that show str vs agi, with parses and such.
Prior to gu36 i was STR/AIG, and thru t6 I was Int/Sta (as an OT grp defiler), so I have some experience with all the lines, although this is prior to the recent update.
Right now the Wisdom line rocks, stacked full of good abilites, and the "min-jester cap" end ability makes this great line even better.
Take your time and read through some of the posts here, lots of input from some of the top WW raiding defilers. (one of which I'm not, I'll humbly add...heheh)

Re: Oh nos, noob defiler questioning!
Str/Wis. Reason I say this is that I was one of the big ones here promoting Agi/Wis spec's and while it is viable (the crits do help) with all the changes to cures here recently it just helps the MT group more having your pet in there. It does take some effort both by yourself and your MT though to keep the pet alive. Position is the key here. You'll learn to hate the pet, hate it with a passion but the buffs on the str line mitigates some of this hate for the pansy of a thing. If you find yourself where you just can't keep the pet alive fret not, just go back down the crit tree and you'll still be nearly as effective as the str one. Biggest differences being you'll be spending a bit more power on cures/heals. My advice is to play with the 2 builds some, if you don't like one switch to the other.

Re: Oh nos, noob defiler questioning!
Then use another pet class..besides the Defiler's dog.
Or how about this novel idea, the tank runs up to the mob and taunts it then runs back to the raid...

Re: Oh nos, noob defiler questioning!
Doesn't bother me much, i play 2 other pet classes, and use to send in my conjuror pet all the time. Not hard to keep pet alive for a conjuror.
