Default (Grimwell) RoK Beta for Fan Faire Attendees and EQuinox Preorder Customers

Did you attend Fan Faire 2007, or preorder the EQuinox magazine?
If you can answer yes to this question, you should be in the Rise of Kunark beta test right now! All qualified accounts have been flagged as a beta participant and are ready to jump into the beta and get to testing! All you need to do at this point is install the beta client and you are good to go. To do that, follow the directions noted below.

If you qualified to be in the beta by going to Fan Faire 2007 or preordering the EQuinox magazine, and you can't log into the beta server after installing the beta client from the directions below, please send me (Grimwell) a private message on the forums and include your StationID so I can investigate. You will not get an invitation email as you are already in and ready to go after the beta client install.

Welcome to the beta!
We are pleased to offer you an invitation into beta for the EverQuest II Rise of Kunark expansion. Thank you for joining the effort to help us build a stronger, more stable game.

Please read this entire e-mail carefully. It will provide all the information you need to install the beta client and begin exploration of the EverQuest II Rise of Kunark expansion pack.

Please remember that taking part in our beta program means that you've already accepted the terms of our Non-Disclosure Agreement; everything included in this letter and within the software itself is covered by that agreement. No aspect of the beta program may be discussed on any public message board; only on the private beta section of the official EverQuest II forums. (See below for details and link.)

** How to get into beta **
In order to access the Rise of Kunark beta server, you will need to get the appropriate files. You may download the appropriate LaunchPad from the following web address:

http://download.station.sony.com/pa...eq2/BetaEQ2.zip

To get to the web address:

1) Enter the web address into your web browser. Downloading should begin immediately.
2) Save the file to your computer. It is called BetaEQ2.zip.

Note: We suggest that you create a copy of your existing EverQuest II directory and name it EQ2Beta. This will allow you to keep your Beta and Live files separated from one another.

3) Unzip the file into your EQ2Beta directory.
4) Create a shortcut of your BetaEQ2.exe file and place it onto your desktop.
5) Double-click the shortcut to sign in.

Once you have patched the files you need, log into EverQuest II to begin. Please make sure to run the BetaEQ2 shortcut each time you plan on logging into the beta server.
** Character Copies **
For us to copy your favorite EverQuest II character to the beta server, please indicate which character you want us to copy by logging into your play server as your favorite character. You indicate that you want us to copy an individual character by typing the command /beta in your chat window. Periodically we will run scripts that will copy characters to the beta server. Please monitor the Beta message boards for when the character copies will occur.

** Beta Feedback **
As part of your participation in our beta program, we rely on you to report bugs and give us feedback on the things you like or dislike about the game. The place for discussing these issues and receiving feedback from our developers is the beta section of our official forums, which you should now be able to see as a beta tester. (If you are not in the beta, you will not see these forums).

Additionally, there are two in-game commands for sending us information about your experiences during the beta. /bug should be used to report bugs. Bugs are gameplay features that do not work, spelling errors, and anything that just does not work as intended. Please give us as much detail about the bug as you can think of when reporting it.

/feedback should be used to send in comments about parts of the game that work properly, but that you would like to see changed. If you discover an item that you think should have less WIS and more INT, then use /feedback. If you think a certain encounter is too easy or too hard, use /feedback to report it. You can also use this command to make general suggestions on how to improve the game.

It is important that you distinguish between these two options, as one is read primarily by our testing team and the other is read mostly by our game designers. Sending a bug through /feedback can delay our ability to fix it, since we'll have to route that to our testers for verification.

Please remember that your participation in the beta program is subject to the Terms of Use, License and Non-Disclosure Agreement which you have already agreed to. Your access in and to the beta program, including the patcher, is for your personal, non-commercial use only, in accordance with the Agreement, and any feedback you provide is confidential.

Once again, thank you for your time and effort. It is very much appreciated.
