I hope his school papers don't burn too! That would be bad for our friends in the postal service who do a lot of work. Mail may be all some of our friends and neighbors have as the dust settles.
Report from SOE Temecula:
The 15 is still closed, so those of us who shot North to stay with friends, family, and hotel it are essentially stuck. I can't drive home, and my part of Escondido is still under evacuation so it does not matter anyway. We have a crowded house here, with my family heading in North from San Diego, and others coming South from Lake Arrowhead and Orange County. That's what's telling here for folks that have never lived out here... my sister-in-law is housing folks from three different counties that are on fire, and there are more folks who would stay if there was room.
They have been saying 250,000 evacuees in San Diego for over 24 hours. I think they have kept to that number so they don't depress people, but the evacuations have continued even if the reported number hasn't grown.
That said, I'm with family and have had check-ins from many people so I'm content. Things can be rebuilt, people can't.
