Speaking of the fire, I just posted this in the beta forums to let folks there know why we've been holding off on beta updates, but I figured others might be interested as well:
For those not keeping up on the wildfire news from San Diego:
* We're not having people come into work, as the mayor's asked that people stay off the streets for the last couple days. There are still quite a few staff who've been evacuated from their homes, and a number more of us who are keeping an eye out waiting for a call to head out.
* We do have emergency and critical live-service personnel on site, but services remain limited since those departments aren't at full staff either. (Operations, CS, Tech Support, etc)
* SDG&E is also requesting that people conserve power wherever possible, which means that we've had all of our internal servers down for the duration as well.
As it stands, SOE is safe and not directly in the path of anything that's moving. The nearest fire is about 8 miles north of the office -- For those keeping track at home, that's the Witch Creek fire (
http://media.signonsandiego.com/fires/).
We'll get updates resuming just as soon as we can.
Your patience, as always, is seriously appreciated.
