Bah! SoCal has its share of dangers as noted, but so does any location. Michigan has tornadoes which can shred your house in seconds with no warning, and blizzards where you need to care for your own heat because nobody is going to get down that road. It's just a trade.
I used to live in San Berdoo, got out just before those fires and was happy with that coincidence. Arrowhead burning really sucks, it's beautiful up there.
