You don't sacrifice everyone in the group. If you are in a group of 6 then when you die it takes 20% from each member in the group at master 1. Adept 3 would be 22.5% and so on. If the tank were to die its better for everyone to lose a little bit and keep the tank up rather than the tank dieing and then the rest of the group falling soon thereafter.
