Darn mercenary tradeskill societies ...
Since the cut off date for submitting GU42 stuff is about the second week of January, there actually aren't many working days left! I know it seems like after Christmas is still far away, but from a behind the scenes perspective, we developers have to have everything tidied up far in advance of what it probably seems like. First QA need time to test everything out and catch any bugs, and then it needs time on Test server for the lovely folks there to play with it and feedback and maybe catch anything that might have slipped by QA. And then of course if anything does need changing, we also need time to fix it and then test it again! These are very valuable processes that can't be skimped on, so the end result is that we have to actually start thinking about things about 2 months in advance of when you'll see them. Right now for example Kaitheel is already hard at work on the Erollisi Day (Valentine's Day) events.
A couple times I've noticed someone posting in these forums saying "gee, we really need XXX", and coincidentally, a week or two later there's a game update where XXX is added. Seems like cause and effect, but in fact it really means that two months ago we already thought of it and added XXX and the post was just a coincidental timing! If I decide to add YYY today, it won't reach the game for over a month. The only exception is game-breaking urgent fixes that are hotfixed in with a minimal testing time, but these are only on an emergency basis and of course we try to avoid needing these.
Just a little timeline trivia for you!
