I obviously wasn't here at the time so I don't know all the reasoning or technical issues that occurred at the time, though I'm sure there were good ones. But this far down the road? I highly doubt it makes any sense at all to mess with things. If it makes you feel any better, my first (and still main) crafter is in the same boat as she'd done city writs for other factions before Ironforge even offered tradeskill writs. Fortunately I see no need whatsoever to get this recipe, and even if I change my mind, I've got plenty of more recent alts who didn't have that early faction hit.
