Smed, thanks but this is just a crumb. I know we asked for communication, but telling us there's only a TINY problem when it's affecting almost every single person on the SE, including my large guild on Bazaar, myself, my friends who just came, etc. is essentially downplaying the problem as if it's a single minor problem.
I do have to say, thank you for admitting your communication has been sucky. That's at least something.
I would appreciate an answer, though I highly suspect I won't get one:
Why are the cards, that are having problems with finishing auctions being successfully charged monthly account fees and listing fees with no problems, these same cards are flagged as fraud during auctions?
Example:
My card was charged the account fees mid December, no issues.
I made a bid on a few auctions with the same card my account is on. No problem.
The next day, I get the errors on two auctions, that my card is bad. After a few days, I canceled them feeling bad for the person who sold them thinking it was me. (I admit, all my own doing of course.)
A week later, when told it was fixed, I posted auctions up. Listing fees cleared with the very same card (and no information changed or even reattempted) successfully.
If this is indeed because of security measures, why is it taking the money for our account fees and listings instantly not flagged, but not on the auctions if it is flagged? It doesn't make any sense. I'm not expecting a transcript of the coding of security, but saying there's a tiny problem with a tiny amount of people, really doesn't do much for me. Are these services provided completely separate? If that's the case, is the fraud situation only pertaining to the SE? And if it's not, why aren't we seeing more posts about people's accounts being canceled from these problems?
To answer your question -
The reason cards that some cards that are successfully used for monthly charges are not working with Station Exchange is that we are using a service that does fraud screening. For whatever reason it's kicking back a lot of cards as being not usable for Station Exchange. That's the core of the problem and obviously it's not our intent to piss you all off by telling you your card that works for our game doesn't work for Station Exchange. We know that's annoying, frustrating and in some cases downright stupid. We're working to make sure this doesn't happen to legitimate users while still preventing the excessive fraud that is an extremely real problem. I'll be honest - it's a tough problem and I think we drew the line too much on the side of cutting back fraud. Sure we've managed to do that, but we've cut back far more legitimate customers than we obviously intend to. WE WILL FIX THIS
That's only one of the problems though.. we also have the issue of some legitimate auctions not resolving properly. That's also being closely looked at.
We're having a meeting later this morning to discuss this internally and I'll update you if I have any news coming out of that meeting.
Also, to the people who think that I'm only responding to one or two issues here - I assure you we're reading these boards very closely and talking to customers to get any issues on our bug list and taken care of. I'm talking about the big issues here because frankly they represent the vast majority of the problems.
