Believers in the RNG are in the same group as those that believe in UFOs and Bigfoot.
Drops/harvests are coded.
If you are experiencing exceptionally low drop rates, that is working as coded/intended.

Hey, the whole game is coded. A RNG is code. I doubt there is a RNG chip on the market. I know how it is working and assume it is working as intended or it would be fixed. Some of us are asking how it is coded, not if it is working as coded/intended.
I don't quite understand the argument being made here, but just to reiterate once again, ebon is not "coded" to be any more or less rare than any other rare of the same tier. The drop rate for ebon as a % of the total number of harvests you make from an ore node is exactly the same as it is for, say, ruby or cedar or figwart. There is no magic code that checks how many rares you, your bank, the broker, or the server have already before deciding if you get an ebon. There is no magic code that figures out what rares your class would want and changes the drop rate accordingly. There is just your harvesting skill number (including any bonuses to it you might have), the probability assigned to getting an ebon harvest, and the random number generator. What the RNG "rolls" for you, compared against those other numbers, determines what you get.
Bigfoot is safely off in Kylong Plains eating unwary travellers, and the UFO is parked in North Qeynos where we can regularly confirm it is not stockpiling ebon.
