Ah, makes sense. Yeah I have a 8800gt and have had the issues, which is the downside of having 32bit vista even though i could run 64bit. Then again, I also had an issue where it wasn't drawing most particle effects, and upon resetting my settings, I have neither the out of memory issue nor the lack of particles. Strange.

So ultimately this change just means that there will be more construction and unloading of dx objects then? There isn't some sort of visual degradation or will there just be generally more hits on the hard drive?
It shouldn't cause visual degradation... well, other than the known issue with it presently. It does means that DirectX objects will be created more on-demand and there might be more hits to the disk (or OS disk cache), but these things generally shouldn't be a problem.
