Icon3 (DominoDev) Veteran Tradeskillers Shafted Again

In my case it was zero for my tailor when I started doing crafting writs to level her to 80. At any rate, I don't care what way is used to right the wrong, I just want it righted. And I will complain until it is fixed. THAT could be done by any type of quest or writ that is fair, even if it dumbs down the requirements. THAT is my opinion. THAT is why I'm asking for justice. BTW, are you really afraid that a quest for level 80 or above crafters that gives crafting society faction in the thousands would dumb down the requirements? The only level 80 crafters who don't have the faction already are veterans, like your provisioner, who are being unfairly penalized by this requirement.

#1, there are plenty of level 80 crafters who are not "veterans", if by that you mean they've been around long enough to have been affected by the time when doing writs for one faction reduced your faction with the others. In fact, I'd expect the majority of level 80 crafters would NOT be veterans in this sense. And there are many level 80 crafters who don't have the faction already -- those who didn't choose to do writs to level up with -- mine for example.

#2, if your tailor started with zero then she wasn't affected by the negative faction in the slightest. All characters start at zero. Your tailor isn't behind anybody else, and all she has to do is the exact same amount of work as anybody else if she wants the faction rewards.

#3, there are already two non-writ quests in the game that give you a little bit of city faction, and more coming. But no, it is unlikely any quests will be added that give anybody "thousands" of faction at a time. That would trivialize it.

#4, there is absolutely no reason you or anybody else needs these recipe books for anything. If you want the items, get someone with the faction to make them for you. If you don't want the items, don't. There are other recipes in the game that you don't have, and maybe there will be more in the future. These recipes are here because they're fluff, and nobody will be hurt in the slightest by not having them. It's perfectly viable for you to be a level 80 tailor and even earn your Master Tailor title without ever having these recipes or suffering from it in the slightest.

Faction rewards are just that -- rewards for earning standing with a particular faction. Not everybody likes doing that. I'm not crazy about it myself, in fact, and don't have any crafters that can make the mirror either. But those who do enjoy it, get to enjoy a few little extras, like these recipes, titles, and some unique furniture. Those who don't spend their time earning faction, presumably spend that time doing something else they enjoy more, like adventuring, or selling their goods, and get the rewards from doing that (higher adventure levels, more money, whatever). This game, and indeed life, is full of choices. If you see something you want, make the decision whether you want to put in the effort to earn it, and then act accordingly.

There will be many more faction reward recipes coming up in the next update, for the three Kunark factions, and for items much more meaningful than the mirror and mannequin. I'm sure posts similar to this will start springing up about it as soon as it hits test server, so let me say this in advance:

It is perfectly viable to get to level 80 with a master title in your crafting profession without ever doing any faction work for anyone. The faction rewards are rewards for people who do put in that time, but nobody is forcing you to do so. You are not being "forced" to do any faction work if you don't want to. This is optional content; every crafter has a way to do it if they want; but nobody is in the slightest bit prevented from being a max level crafter if they don't do it. Like every aspect of the game, it's a choice we all individually make whether we want to experience that content, and we choose how to act accordingly. If you want to get all the fabulous avatar dropped gear, then you level up adventuring and join a high end raiding guild to do that. If you want to get faction rewards, then you earn faction with the appropriate people. If you don't want to do either, then you don't. The ability to pick and choose the way we want to play and the rewards we want to earn is what gives games like this such a huge breadth of content and array of different experiences.

Any future posts about being "forced" to do anything faction-related will most likely just be referred to read this one so I don' t have to retype it again.
