Status Update: NVIDIA 8 Series Performance Issue
I said I would give you an update today, so here it is. At this time we've tested this issue on two similar systems, one Quad and one Dual core (specs. listed below). Each system was a 32bit version of Vista and each with the "Virtual address space usage" fix installed, (
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/940105) and current NVIDIA drivers, (ForceWare Release 169 WHQL 169.25).
Test condition included running EQ2 in the default, "High Quality" setting at 1600 x 1200 full screen resolution. Each test system preformed extremely well seldom dipping down to 30FPS and keep an average of 45FPS. I will continue to test this issue with various 8 series cards.
Another step you may try to improve you situation would be to reinstall DirectX. Sometimes after card swapping and or driver updates, (even with applications such as Driver Cleaner) reinstalling DirectX may help.
I will keep you all posted on the progress of the hardware that gets tested in regards to this issue. Good luck and good hunting.
