One thing that we're also testing internally is making the EQ2 client "large address aware". This would allow the client to use more memory on 64-bit OS installations and 32-bit OS installations where the /3gb switch is present in boot.ini.
that sounds really good (recently got the "ran ouf memory" saying itd be capped at 2gig). does that stand in any connection to an incomming x64 recompiled binary?
At this time, we're not looking into a 64-bit binary. The large address aware 32-bit client will be able to use up to nearly 4GB of RAM on 64-bit installations, which is a significant improvement. The benefits of having a 64-bit binary don't offset the development effort (and hardware costs) it would take to produce one at this time.
