This request is going to be most use to the scholar classes, of course. I agree, it doesn't hugely help carpenters (or provisioners) since almost everyone can use almost everything they make, but the other classes should find this quite nice.
If you are thinking of something carpentry-related I'm missing that would be really useful as a filter, I guess it could be investigated. However, I don't think carpenter-specific filters would make any sense though unless they were useful to other classes too, as the recipe book filters are for all classes and should be pretty generally applicable. So, if you were thinking about things like the ability to filter by furniture type (e.g. "tables"
or placement ("wall mounted items"
or similar, I'm inclined to say it wouldn't make sense to add these, since nobody but carpenters could even use them. Plus, furniture isn't currently flagged by type, so that would require someone going through and manually editing all of it, which isn't gonna happen any time soon!
