Believe it or not, there was a reason for this. My bad for not realizing someone would want a 1-inch wide chat window.
The old minimum width was 210, the new minimum width is 280. I'll revert it back to 210.
If you don't want to wait for an update, edit your eq2ui_mainhud_mainchat.xml file.
Change the "MinimumSize" value on the 2nd line of the file from "280,145" back to "210,145".
Or if you really want to go nuts, make it 100!
