There is another often repeated balancing issue that ought to be addressed with the new gear. Melee-based healers (wardens, inquisitors, and mystics) are still being shafted gear-wise in preference of spell-damage based healers (furies, defilers, and templars). Why does all of the healing-based gear give +spell damage and no +combat art or at least some strength? This is a big issue with shard gear and continues to be an issue with pvp gear (not including the class armor, which is so-so). Why do melee healers have to switch gear to contribute a little dps (and lose most healing ability) while spell-damagers can do both with the same gear?

    Thanks,

I believe if you look at the TSO sets, you will find that the gear does actually have quite a bit of STR and +Combat Art Damage bonuses along with HASTE on gloves to help your melee based skills.

Really? Can you tell me where the shard merchant is for healer class shard armor with spell crit and spell mod on it? Because I would LOVE to know.

what the fuck? have you even looked at this expansions priest gear? like 90% of it has int, spelldamage or spellcrit on it in addition to heal stats. the other 10% have weapon skills and str on it, dps/haste-mod doesnt even exist on priest items whereas 50% of all existant heal classes are melee-based dpsers. how is that even remotely appropriate?

There just isn't much healing gear with offensive bonuses on them. Not looking at avatar gear the number of items that have heal and spell bonuses that drop in raids this expansion can be counted on one hand. And as far as shard armor goes I'm not sure if there is a single piece a priest can equip with spell crit on it, whereas you can find plenty with melee bonuses on it. At least melee type priests have the option to get the hybrid set for dps, caster type healers get squat.

and the hybrid set sucks balls. you either wear healing gear or dps gear, a mix-up in between does not really work, for inqs at least. what im refering to is, look at whatever raiddrop you want, if theres ANYTHING else than wis, healstuff and stamina on an item its INT like 90% of the time

Aye, I agree with that. I was mainly talking about the shard gear since the op said it was a huge issue with shard armor when shard armor is even more of an issue for caster type healers. As a caster type healer there isn't any shard armor you would want to equip for dps other than the shoulders and that doesn't have any spell crit or mod I believe, just the base damage.
