Re: (Rothgar) Re:A letter to SOE from a Medium-Core Raider
medium core is not being required to carry an EQ2 capable laptop with you at all times and be expected to login if an avatar pops, regardless of the time of day. Medium core is the ability to maintain a social/family life while playing the game, instead of hiding in your office 7 nights a week and abandoning the rest of the world.

So, its every raider then, including avatar killers.
Thanks for clearing that up.

Re: (Rothgar) Re:A letter to SOE from a Medium-Core Raider
Great post thanks for putting it up.
I am at work writing this, on a lunch break. But it made me think of what would happen if I managed the beverage plant I run the with the same philosophy that SOE have taken in to addressing EQ2.
Lack of testing, lack of understanding of game mechanics, lack of creating in depth content - Market withdraw due to contaminated product with ecoli. Huge loss of revenue, PR emergency planning, and the loss of millions of customers. Even though there are two deaths associated to the product, our press realease states that we will have a fix sometimes in the next 3 months as we explore the possible root causes and create a solution.
Client crashes, Class balance, inovation, itemization - Hire a 4th grader as my maintenance manager with no prior experience (not even the Bob the Builder tool table). As equipment degrades, efficiency and performance drops double figures, but I do nothing to resolve or address the situation, but maybe think about promoting the 4th grader to a corporate engeenering position.
TSO Raid Content - Require all packer and filler operators operators to perform maintenance and sanitation on the machine while its running to increase effieciency. In addition increase in line testing and recording of their findings every 3 minutes, all while paying them minimum wage.
Customer Relations - Management does not communicate expectations, and even when an employee has a new idea about inovating the production line, we think they are too stupid to understand what is really going on. Accident Frequency Rate triples, due to one forklift operator striking employees in the warehouse, but even after the seventh fatality he has not received disciplinary action.
Well have to get back to work, because really I blame this on the management for not having a fucken clue how to use project management in running a MMO. How long have we been waiting, Fix the memory leak, Fix tanking mechanics (agro), fix druids and brawlers, get raid encounters right the first time, create content that customers enjoy, raid content that is enjoyable but challenging, PUT OUT A FUCKEN EXPANSION THAT HAS MORE THEN 1 ZONE OF CONTENT AND THAT WE WILL COME BACK TO (I have seen MoY like 1 time when I did the quests, fix PvP, create an AA system that will keep us playing aka EQ1, shit for Gods sake, I have to get back to work.

For some of the cure-heavy encounters (Tythus, in particular), you do need the right mix of healers. But I have seen mages get through Tythus (inquisitor) and Kultak (fury) fights with a single healer if they had enough critmit/mitigation.
And, to be clear, when I started raiding I needed templar buffs to have a chance of surviving Kultak. Now that I've gear up... not so much.

Why not just introduce beastlords as the new uber class and have entire raiding guilds made of them, other classes be damned.

No doubtedly it can be done, we have killed kultak with a single fury in two different groups but it was messy and it certainly isn't conventional. And the people who kept dieing did get a bit of an ass chewing because they have the means to not die to the ae on kultak.
The fact that a very well geared/played druid can't keep a group alive any better than a lesser geared/skilled druid is why druids are broken and most have switched to templars or shamans.
