(Especially the strategist, even trustee status doesn't allow non-guild members to plant a flag. Blech!)
I don't see a reason why we can't fix this. I've got no problem with a trustee being able to plant a flag. We've always considered a trustee to have equal access to a house owner. If you want to give someone outside of your guild trustee access, that should be fine.
I'm in GuildA, and grab a flag item from GuildB's strategist (where I'm a trustee). Both guilds A and B have strategists. I plant a flag. For which guild(s) does that flag count? Does it claim my host guild, the guild I grabbed the flag from, any/all guilds I'm trustee in, or some combination thereof?
(I'm assuming the least likely cases is "the guild I grabbed the flag from", since I doubt the item tracks its source; beyond that, I don't see how you'd distinguish "planting flag for other_guild_where_I'm_trustee" from "planting flag for my guild". Always planting a flag for anyone that has you as a trustee seems like it'd be a royal pain, as far as avoiding conflicting flag drops)
Aside from that concern, it definitely would be a useful feature imo. And a "alliance flag" (as has been suggested above) would avoid the "whose flag?" issue, although it would give guilds 2 simultaneous flags to play with rather than just 1.
Actually, you're right. This is why we didn't implement this feature in the first place. When you plant the flag it triggers for your guild, not the guild you took the flag from. The flags are all generic. It would probably take a bit more work to track a guild ID on the flag itself, but it should be do-able. But this would also mean you'd need to know which flag you were planting if you were carrying around multiples which makes even more work for us.
