Hi all, first of all - nice idea! But ......

i run into that new Client - because my old fashined installation broke - so i had to reinstall. And now? Since I m a EU player on an US server it takes some time to get into new zones - used to be up to 10 minutes - got better - thx - AND - since we have 2 PCs / logings - i had the idea to copy the large asset1.vdb file over to the other pc - to save some time for downloads - bad idea ..... didnt work! So I installed the streamer again - and? asset1.vdb gone - back to initial size - had to reaload all zones again ..... grrrrrrrr

Copying the asset*.vdb files to another computer should work as long as they're in the assetcache folders. Install the game and then copy the files over before running it. Make sure to copy and not move them.

Question 1: will there be a way to download the date from a more local server? So i can choose what server should be used to download data?

The streaming system uses a CDN to download the assets. The assets don't download from the game server. This means that the assets should be ideally coming from a server that is geographically closer to you which increases the speed at which they're downloaded. However, if the server close to you doesn't have the assets yet, it will have to get them from the root server at SOE. As more people use the streaming client, speeds will increase because more assets will be cached on servers closer to you.

Question 3: what about an download all / or download selected zones feature? so i use the new Steaming Client - but i download all zones while at work?

We actually have some plans for this. We're working on a change to the launcher that will continue to stream down data until you hit the Play button. You could let it download the whole game if you want. However, since the minimum to play the game is downloaded, you can hit Play at anytime and go into game. After playing, just start up the launcher again and it will continue to download the rest of the game.

Also, we're working on a system that will allow you to install the new Launcher over an existing EQII install. Doing this would convert the existing PAKS directory to the new Asset Database system (the assetcache directory). From that point on, files will be updated while you play instead of having to wait for long patches on update days.

Question 4: how will a new user get the old loader? I would love to get mine fixed! where is the download link on the SOE homepages?

You can obtain Station Launcher here. The original LaunchPad I believe is only available from the installed DVDs at this point.

Question 5: wiht the Streaming Client - are there any logsfiles? need them for ACT

Thx a lot and regards from Zurich

The streaming client should have the same options for logging as the full client. However, the default install location is a little unexpected:

\AppData\LocalLow\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest II Streaming\

Where is "C:\Documents and Settings\" on Windows XP and "C:\Users\" on Windows 7.
