Yes, kids, once upon a time, tradeskill recipes made some modicum of sense. Now the glass for mirrors comes out of thin air and rugs have metal infused into them.
Let's not get carried away here. Recipes NEVER made sense. Pre-subcombine removal, my palm trees were made from loam, cloth padding, and dye - no wood at all. My signal fire and firepit were 100% metal subcomponents, no wonder they never produced fire. And mirrors, if I recall correctly, were made entirely from ore also - there was no "pane of glass" subcomponent in existence.
While you may not like the removal of subcombines, there is really no connection between that and whether recipe ingredients made sense or not before or after. Both before and after that change there were recipes that made no sense whatsoever. For me, it never made the slightest sense which recipe required what in many cases, nor which class could make what subcomponents. It was never realistic, IMO, it's just unrealistic now in a way that doesn't require subcombines.
Could we change the ingredients required by recipes to make a bit more sense? Sure, and hopefully that's something we'll have time to do at some point. Without bringing back subcombines, though.
