Default Melee Crit Cap ?

Hiya,

There are nice items with Melee Crits in RoK. Got ton of them but i've got supprised. Im at 23% MC with DKTM, and whem im putting new +crit item it doesnt rise . Looks like 23% is a cap for a dirge, cause my GF's brig can go 35% easy, or im gettin a bug or sth.

Can any1 check your dirge melee crits ? Can ya get higher than 23% ?

wasnt 100% the cap?

edit: on another note, wouldnt 100% double attack gain us far more dps as 100% crit? (with good high delay weapons)

100% is the cap and 100% crit would yield more DPS than 100% double attack since double attack can't proc a thing and is just double of your normal auto attack, whereas crits affects CAs and procs and can be huge sometimes, not to mention we're talking about an average 30% damage increase to every single melee hit.

100% Melee Crit does not equal 100% crit rate all the time.

Have seen parses of 109% Crit Rate "missing" crits on orange x4 mobs.

Melee crit apparently scales versus the level of the mob you are fighting, have extended Crit percent out to 112% and haven't seen any missed crits, but all that could mean is that the chance is just even smaller for a non crit to occur.

Funny thing is, I haven't been able to pull up a parse of myself missing crits, but have seen parses of someone with the exact same set up and crit percent have non crits on our Inquisitors.

That's not necessarily true.

When you double attack, while dual wielding, you're doubling your melee DPS. When you crit, it varies a lot depending on what your damage roll is and your weapon spreads. Sometimes it's more than double, sometimes it's only 30%.

The reason I prefer double attacking over melee crits is because you don't crit a miss, however, you do double attack a miss. Also as Echo mentioned crits scale slightly depending on the con so 25% melee crits isn't 25% melee crits on a level 87 mob. The flipside is that double attack has no impact on CAs while melee crits obviously increase them by 30%.

Considering our average hit rate on orange cons is about 63-68% and about 73-78% on yellow cons that's a significant amount of auto attacks missing out on crits while all those auto attacks that missed have a chance to double attack.

Again, they're both about equally important, however I think double attack has the slight edge.

Edit - Also melee crits affecting procs is completely insignificant considering 99% of the procs in game are not melee based. The 2 common ones that are that come to mind are the planar orb of the wanderer and the rallos zek cloak.

Seems that this is just rouding bug. Cause DKTM got 7,5%, and looks like at 23% is sth wrong with that .5%. Gonna get new melee crit earring tonight and hope to reach 25 or 26% .
