Default Weapon delay and set pieces questions

I'm new to raiding and haven't gotten to do much of it yet, but I see I am way behind in dps so I've been researching how to fix that. (This place is a treasure trove, BTW. Thanks for posting your hard-earned knowledge.)

I changed my AA spec to match the recommendations I've found here (Wis: 4-4-6-8-2, Sta: 4-4-4-8, Agi: 4-4-4-8, Int: 4-1). No T8 masters yet, but all but a handful are Ad3s. And I am incorporating the casting order I saw posted from Kall. But I have a couple of questions I was hoping I could get answers to.

Are my weapons too fast? Using Mishandled Dirk with 1.5 delay and 44-82 damage in main and Dirk of Negativity with 1.9 and 21-131 in offhand. My thought was faster is better, but I'm reading that slower maximizes crits?

Should I be wearing the T8 imbued rare crafted set instead of pieces from Impetuous Strikes? I only have three pieces of that set and a mix of other stuff from ROK and the lower tier raids. I also read maybe I should be wearing Vhalen's and using the older COB? I only have a couple pieces of Vhalen's so far (three or four, IIRC).

Thanks!

(Edited to fix random weird codes.)

Default Re: Weapon delay and set pieces questions

The slower the better is the general thought around here and here's a couple points why:
- Slower weapons will hit harder, therefor Crits will bi higher as well
- Slower weapons have a higher chance of procing procs
- Slower weapons generally tend to have better min/max ratio, which in return also affects crits, atleast at the high end
- The slower the weapon, the more haste affects it. That is, 100% haste for a 1.5 delay weapon will make it swing at 0.75 delay, while with a 4 second weapon it will make it swing at 2 delay. This also affects "missed auto attack cycles", as generally with a 4 second weapon it's impossible to miss a cycle, only delay it (rare exception would be group rezz).

It is better if you use your slower weapon in your primary hand as this will increase the chance at procing a proc that is applied to you via buffs/equipment other then your weapons.
