Default + CA/Spell Dmg

I am under the impression that spell and ca dmg is capped at 1/2 of the total damage for each individual skill. I cant get into game to check it out atm, but am trying to figure out how much of each I should be aiming to get without sacrificing other stats. I recall seeing AEs have there effectivness divided by 3 so the cap on something like our disease dot is going to be much larger than the rest. Has anyone looked at all of our T8 skills and found a reasonable max where it would still be effecting most skills?

Things I have heard from different sources: +CA and +Spell damage is capped at 50% of the base damage of each individual CA / Spell. How that exactly works i'm not sure. As both CAs & Spells have Min & Max. so would it be 50% of Min and 50% of Max or 50% of Max as the cap? /shrug

One thing I have noticed, and have heard others mentioning, several +Spell Damage items do not add to the +Spell Damage Modifier and therefore are not part of the Cap. An example is Disease X such as the Dark Knight's Wristwrap. It adds (believe it is 50) to Disease Spells, you can see the change in all Disease spells for a Dirge when it's equipped (goes up by 50 plus a little more for the 38int on it) yet it does not register it as a Spell Mod. However the bracelet I have, forget the name, has a +85 All Spell Damage which also increases the Spell damage appropriately but does show up on the Spell Mod.

So I'd venture a guess that it would be possible to get a very nice damage boost by combining Spell Mod items and straight Disease Damage items and not even have to worry about the Spell Mod Cap.
Only problem is I've seen like 4 items iirc that had decent +Disease damage on them.

They still add to the cap. The only items in-game that don't are the Bloodthirsty Choker, the Mage TNT 2-set proc, Dark Orb of the Mind, and the Wand of Crystalised Plasma. Of course, dirges can only wear 1 of these, but they can get the bonus from the 1 proc. Either way, +Disease Damage may not show up as Spell Damage, but it still counts towards the cap.
