Re: Dirge Epic Thread?
Smendrik says to you, "Why, it's good to see you again. My time apart has been profitable. I have found an odd sort of flute made of sea tubes. How about you? Have you been filling the world with Pre-Cataclysm music?"
You say to Smendrik, "I actually exchanged the Lute and music for this saber. I had been restoring them for another individual I met."
Smendrik says to you, "Oh really? Well, I do hope the weapon was something of great power... because you gave said individual some very valuable items."
You say to Smendrik, "I am told that it should be, but it needs some work. Perhaps you could look at it?"
Smendrik says to you, "My specialty is instruments, not weapons..."
You say to Smendrik, "Yes, well, everything about the weapon seems to be in order. What needs fixing is something deeper. Apparently it has runes on it dedicated to Bristlebane, but they have dulled. Also, it has pegs for strings to attach to, but the arcanic strings need to be strung and tuned."
Smendrik says to you, "Very well, let me take a look at it... Hmm."
You say to Smendrik, "Do you think you can help?"
Smendrik says to you, "Listening very closely... I can hear what sounds like a series of limericks."
You say to Smendrik, "Really? How are you hearing that?"
Smendrik says to you, "Sometimes instruments say things to me that they don't to others. I have a special bond with them. But never mind, do you want your limericks?"
You say to Smendrik, "Of course!"
Smendrik says to you, "There once was a harp of a blade... with arcane strings that would fade... A pinch of folly... surely that's jolly... played on Bristle's own made. Second verse. Bring them up, bring them down... happy sappy tales already abound... To produce a smile is bland... To produce a tear is grand... So tell them a tale of sadness profound!"
You say to Smendrik, "Anymore?"
Smendrik says to you, "One more. When its strings are off note... that's not all she wrote... Nick a nack... to stab a snack... You're a minstrel, not a dolt!... Interesting."
You say to Smendrik, "What do you think it all means?"
Smendrik says to you, "Well, I think its obvious you need some folly worthy of pleasing Bristlebane to charge those runes of his. As for the second limerick... I'd say you need to follow up the folly with a very, very sad tale. I would recommend beginning in Rivervale."
You say to Smendrik, "And the third?"
Smendrik says to you, "It's the most elusive... But I believe we need something to tune this instrument. You'll have to find some kind of tuning fork, I imagine. A very powerful one."
You say to Smendrik, "I see. Well, I'll try to go take care of all of this..."
