Default Low end Dirge

Ok, i have read lots of q/a's on the dirge about aa tree and armour/weapons, but i'm only a lvl 23 dirge with a few aa points. How do i solo as a newbie on this toon? is there a certain tree line to follow and what special chain/weapons do i need to get? I HAVE A 75 wiz, and a 50 bruiser so i'm not new to game. Just cant seem to get a handle on this toon soloing. Any help will be great thanks.

you can solo w/o the aa lines. they just amke it easier. It just takes getting used to.

Best bet is to go down sta line for a shield if your dying to fast.

I know this thread was a little while back, but I just read it and I'm curious if you ever got a good tactic going. I have a dirge I started playing a couple months back, and is already lvl 48 (mainly from lots of guild groups running instances/quests). However, I have soloed effectively with my dirge and I can tell you that yes- you can solo somewhat without the AA's, but you don't necessarily need to focus on solo-specific AA's for them to help you either.

For example, I went down the Mintsrel and Harbinger lines of the bard tree so far (with both end-line spells as well), and although that IS primarily a group-oriented setup, the increases in your buffs, casting speed, spell damage and spell/melee/ranged crits from all of those passives are absolutely ridiculous if you are geared well enough and have the right spells upgraded.

As far as tactics, it depends on how you like to start out a fight and where you are soloing (if you have room to maneuver). I can take down some pretty tough mobs by starting out with my stealth attack, then initiating a H.O. (utilizing the stun to turn it), flanking him for my flank attack (guttural shriek I think it is), then finishing off H.O. with another melee attack. Pretty much after that, depending on if it's a caster or melee mob, I will either keep laying into him with all my CA's before I take too much damage from it's melee attacks, and then get off another stun and back off, switching to bow attacks. From there I do the whole kite method (rooting/snaring and running around), while also utilizing my ranged spells as well.

Also, don't forget about the debuffs (I almost forgot to mention them, but we have some pretty effective ones). They can sometimes make the difference in long fights against tough mobs.
