If you can't do your job as support/utility and manage to damage the mob at the same time, you're a fucking disgrace to the class.
Seriously, it is NOT that fucking hard.

Re: Maximizing DPS Questions
To a lesser degree I pretty much agree with Krysten. When our CA's are where alot of our debuffs come from, and utility is our goal... dps is the biproduct. Even Druids are DPS classes now... and them who should be healing as they can heal and do dps simultaniously since it doesnt stifle them. could be different elswhere... but I tend to be rezzing the same folks who either didnt joust well or those who's stats werent up to par. Gravitas doesnt have a cast time that interferes with our dps really either... and on trash fights other than the warder on the pull or the healer supporting lifeburn I dont even cast it. Only time I throw Sacrifice down is if one of my healers or MT/OT Dips into orange/red, and its taken off as soon as they are yellow and rising again.
Should Dirges all be posting 3k+ numbers on all fights like some we see in the parse thread? hell no, but when everything is running smoothly and people are geared up and paying attention we very well should be dpsing our asses off trying to.

all i'm saying is that we can do respectable dmg while maintaining combat support...but from what i was getting from the thread is that some of these dirges expect to be par with the assassin's and swash the way they were talking.
p.s. don't get your panties in a bunch with your bashing comments....grow the fuck up.

Re: Maximizing DPS Questions
Ive changed my UI to ProfitUI, started running ACT regularly and re-set my hotbars to the suggested setup, and IM averaging between 1600, sometimes hitting 2200.
How does that stack up on average? Im not sure what my DPS goal should be, but as far as gear goes, well, my guild is stuck at Venril Sathir atm, so Im not super hardcore geared by any means.
Thnx for the input.

Re: Maximizing DPS Questions
It really depends on your group and buffs. I am probable similarly geared to you and on smooth fights (minimal control effects, rezzing and such) I'm a bit higher than that but not by tons. If you are talking zw though then your probable a bit higher than me.

Re: Maximizing DPS Questions
Group make up is very important. In the right group I can hit 3k to 3.1k but I usually average between 1.8-2.5k.

Re: Maximizing DPS Questions
Just another suggestion from a alt bard who raids every now and then. Make sure your in auto attack range the entire time. As stupid as this sounds, on my Brigand I never realized how easy it was to be out of range of a mob especially in ROK. The models and hit boxes of some of the mobs are tiny though they scale pretty high visually. When someone else told me this same thing I kinda laughed at him. And though you are standing right next to the mob and your toon is showing the animation that you are swinging, it may just be because your casting CA's and not actually hitting for auto attack damage. Then I started breaking down my parses via ACT against the other melee classes and noticed my slashing/piercing seemed a bit low. I went to ACT website and found:
code:
You must be .+?your target\.
Added to a sound trigger, this will detect if the skill you are using is telling you that you are in the wrong position. (This is more useful for a rogue/predator.)
code:
Your target is too far.+
A useful sound trigger to detect if you're too far away from your current target for melee or spells. I suggest if you melee, just use the system beep as an indicator, because the message gets spammed by EQ2.
This one does get annoying but you may be surprised how often it triggers particularly if you joist alot and think you are back within auto attack range. I believe that Dirges and Brigands auto attack damage accounts for up to 45ish% of their ZW parse.
