So Ive been playing a dirge since about release, and yet I dont always pull decent DPS. On long fights I can pull some, but usually its pretty sucky.
I recently embarked on a quest to maximize my dps, and rearrainged all my hotbars so everything seemed to flow better, ie: Debuffs followed by appropriate attacks etc. My DPS still sucks however. It seems like on a long raid fight, my DPS blows even harder, though I suspect this has to do with my playstyle, cause I kinda learned to play a Dirge not as a DPS toon, but as a rezbot / debuffer.

Im wondering: Does anyone got any hints or tips on upping your personal dps?

What about timing auto attacks? is this a valid strat?

Whats your current setup as far as your UI etc?

What sort of DPS are you pulling out at the moment?

Are you gear and spells up to spec?

I found when levelling my dirge through tier 8 - I peaked at a solo DPS of up to 2.5k ish at around lvl 74, but as I levelled up more - without changing any gear or spells it tailed right off, to the point where I was lucky to hit over 1k, so now I'm slowly trying to claw it back by upgrading spells, and getting better gear and weapons.

I went through most of tier 8 using the Mastercrafted stuff for weaps and armour, and because that's all lvl 72 - it really started to "show it's age" as I got towards 80.

There are a couple of threads already in here on suggested casting orders for your spells and CAs too, which I found very useful as a newbie Dirge (coming from a healer main toon, this whole maximising DPS thing was all new).

You don't really say whether your DPSing solo, in groups, or in raids either...... Or what level you are currently at?

lvl 80, all adept 3s, i have all the solo quest fabled gears, all the instance fabled gears, my epic 1.0.

I would say set your casting order like this which is how mine is =p
Banshee , SOB , Grim Strike , Ho to tactics then Vile Blade , Penetrating , Shriek Blade , Howl , Rythm blade , Lanets , Ho to rythming Curse then shriek blade. Then spam what ever is up and i cast Cob when dispatch is on. So thats my cast order
Also what aa lines you running ? Are you Mt dirge or dps Dirge in raids ?
What does your gear look like ? Your group in raid has some to do with it to. Alot is a factor into your dps so it all depends.
Now i can base 2.3k-2.4k on average now and ZW.Last night i hit my top dps with 2.8k in raids. I also do about 2.8k in groups when its setup right and ive topped 3.2k in groups.

The most important thing besides maybe casting order and pushing buttons fast is to have quick reactions in toggling auto attack. There should never be more than a second from when the mob begins to move to when you start auto attacking.
