Dirges suck in pvp at high levels?
Hey there, my guild only has one level 80 dirge. And I just decided to roll a dirge, it seems to fit my play-style pretty well and the role they play in high end raids is exactly what I'm looking for, some dps, some utility.
Anyway, I'm 25 now, so far considering I have completely gimp gear, I've done quite well in pvp. I was asking that 80 dirge for AA advice (I didn't like what he told me and decided not to follow his advice anyway but oh well). During that conversation he told me I should lock at level 53 to pvp, because after that it was all downhill. He claims that our spells don't scale well compared to other classes and basically by level 80 we suck, he says he wishes he never rolled a dirge, and told me I should play an assassin.
I don't hear this kind of complaining from the dirge community as a whole, is this guy crazy? Should I quit while i'm ahead?

I obviously don't PvP and don't know as much about the subject as probably some others that post in this section, but what the guy told you makes sense logically, although I'm pretty sure a Dirge is strongest in PvP in the mid 20s or 30s.
After those level ranges, classes get more and more DPS capabilities where you get stuff that mainly helps the group and debuffs that are only really effective in raids. Also, Scream of Death at 55 is pretty much useless in PvP compared to how good it is in PvE.
To make the class more viable, at least in solo PvP, I think they need to change the casting time of fear to 1s base with AAs bringing it down to .5s and make the root have a 100% hit rate where it can't miss.
Just some insight from a PvE Dirge.

I know it's kind of end of the rainbow type stuff, but the mythical weapon proc makes you a god in pvp. Nothing quite like hitting intrepid strike, bump, grim strike, and quadding someone to take them from 100 to 0 in 1 second.
But yeah, we could use a lot of work inbetween like 30s and top end 80.

Re: Dirges suck in pvp at high levels?
Yes, your senior dirge is correct, our spells, (debuffs/buffs/dps), don't scale as well as most classes. Hell there is a level 40 something master 2 spell that is the same as adept 3 T8 spell, (its a debuff). So dirges start to go really gimp in the mid 50's and really need groups for survival. I mean, you will get lucky sometimes, or maybe if you are super uber you can kite people to death, but generally yeah, we go down hill solo in the 50's.

Re: Dirges suck in pvp at high levels?
I mostly join pvp trios or groups, but when i do fight solo it's either easy kills or long hard fights. Nothing in between really.
Even though I only have the Epic weapon, in some solo fights if my crits and procs go off with Chimes casted, I can burst dps pretty well. I have taken even con players down in 2-3 seconds. On the other hand if nothing procs then it's a tough one, specially against healers ofc.
