Default Magnetic Note...

Is there any point? Sorry for the n00bish question, but like most (I assume?), I have my points in LotD, Degredate and Confront Fear. We've been having some problems getting past Zarda and Kodux in Kor-Sha (yeah, we suck, I know...) so I was wondering if speccing Magnetic Note for this particular battle would be of any use in preventing at least some of the memwiping carnage from occuring? Maybe (well, no maybe about it, I think) I don't completely understand how MN works... I remember trying it out back when we were doing Doomcoil for similar reasons, and it really didn't seem to work. Any guidance on a) exactly how it works, and b) if it is even worth using on encounters like these, would be greatly appreciated.

A) You cast it on the scout/fighter you want to have tank the mob and the mob will be forced to target your ally for 6s.

B) No because two things usually happen:
-It gets resisted and since it's an ability and not a spell the recast is the full duration.
-It works and it's on the tank and then it runs wherever it was previously.

I tried it for one fight on Test and I think it got resisted like 50% of the time, so yeah it sucks.

How long ago was this Kall? I read a thread on the official forums where someone said there was a change and it now works almost all the time. Not how old of a thread it was though, Ill see if I can find it again.

Yeah I know what you're talking about. Apparently it still needs tweaking although it's not worth their time because even if it never got resisted it'd still suck.

It was in Shard of Hate so it was pretty recent!

While it isn't perfect, it did come in handy for us on that fight when used along with Thought Snap. We just staggered the casting between each of the chanters and bards.

Was messy sometimes but I think it made a difference.

Back when we rolled with 3 dirges, I specced MN for about a month. I agree it is not reliable enough to depend on for a raid strat but does come in handy for general use. For example, I would always cast when Grind pulled to reduce the chance of the mob bouncing at the start of an encounter or for encounters where we needed to swap to an off-tank fast.

It sucked though to be the blame for any scout that ripped..."Hey man, I swear I didn't use Magnetic Note on you!" (meanwhile the mob one hit the scout and continued to pound on his corpse for 4 seconds afterwards) Grind and I also jokingly discussed a Tower of <insert scout name here> ability where if he went into the red and had no oh-shits left, magnetic note could be used to distract the mob for 6 secs pounding on the scout flavor of the day until he could get healed up.

to be honest...magnetic note isn't worth the points. that line really sucks regardless that you only need 16 points to complete the line. i found the points are better off spent on increase heal amount and res spells.

Been using MN for about a month now, have to agree that it gets resisted a lot. I do miss having the extra points into the rez line but it has been a valuable tool for helping the MT get aggro back from overzealous scouts/casters. Going to keep testing it out for a while.
