Any race more beneficial for dirges?
I eventually want to be raid oriented, but what class is best suited for a dirge? I've searched these forums (Started around 11/2007 and more recent) and could not find any topics discussing pros/cons of any races over another for the dirge class, can anyone recommend a good class to choose for a dirge?
Like I said, i want to be raid-oriented and as such I want to maximize my potential as a support class, i'm under the assumption that we can contribute 'some' dps but i realize its not our main focus, or is it?
Thanks in advance, much appreciated

Re: Any race more beneficial for dirges?
So I should really just pick a race thats beneficial for my melee dps?
Also, are our combat arts the main contributor to damage? Or is our autoattack?
And our main weapon time i'm assuming is piercing?

Re: Any race more beneficial for dirges?
our epic is a slasher
bout ca vs autoattack, just go take a look in the parsethread here above, you ll figure out for yourself
and my advice bout your race, well, i choose a race that looked cool to me, one i would enjoy to look at during 200+ days of playing... the appearance of your toon is much more important in your gaming experience than the +2 crit chance for 1min every 50 mins, or the 50% runspeed that will give you the illusion of being an EQ1 bard, etc. IMO
and one last thing, yea we can dps :p

Re: Any race more beneficial for dirges?
Haha thank you Wurzie :D. Your comments were very helpful. And thats a great point about the race. I was hoping that the most 'effective race' might just happen to be a race i haven't played yet :-p
But you're right, something that you'll find interesting to stare at for long periods of time is far better... I mean my guardian is a wood elf >_< nothing beneficial there lol
I'll look at the parses :-p before i look though, im goign to assume CA's are the biggest source of dps output... time to go find out :D
LOL. ANd I was wrong >_<

Re: Any race more beneficial for dirges?
My dirge is a DE, though I didn't make him a DE based on racial skills, since I made him before the racial revamp. I just hadn't played a DE and wanted to make one.
Aside from the previously mentioned crit/casting speed buff (it's on a 5 minute timer), DEs also have +2% spell/melee crit and +5 piercing/disruption. Innate racials are +15% run speed while stealthed and a slow fall type ability like fae/arasai. I can understand the stealth run speed, but where they got slow fall from the lore I have no idea.

gnome dirge here. Punished bye SOE for my choice...so I wear Legendary set gear to show SOE that looking bad has a new meaning in EQ2.
My glasses look really cool under my noob SOE devellopped cap. Fashion victim......nah, SOE victim lol
(ps, you can find most answers in other threats, but buff your auto attack as much as possible and go for >3.5 delay weapons.)

Re: Any race more beneficial for dirges?
Thanks Firza. Yeah the only question I was searching for on teh forums was about race, and i couldnt find it so i decided to post.
I apologize if i upset anyone by asking other questions that I could have found answers to elsewhere... I usually hate posting to ask questions and would much rather get the answer sooner and not bug ppl (by using the search f(x) :D).
But thank you for the tips. I have a guardian, and our autoattack is our biggest source of dps ... some pretty much 65-75% of our dmg comes from autoattack [dont quote me on those exact numbers :-p] so im really glad that dirge dps can be contrived from teh same principles.
Now instead of taunting i'll throw support buffs :-p.. Oh, and i wont have to do all the leading and get no credit for it ^ ^

Re: Any race more beneficial for dirges?
We Dark Elves have a racial ability called "Poison Expertise", a +25% trigger count on poison procs. I don't believe it affects the poison proc we receive from our AA line (Poison Concoction) unfortunately, however.

Trigger Count, does not mean Trigger Rate. Your AGI AA line gives unlimited Poison Triggers, whereas Rogue/Predator Poisons can only proc so many times per vial, thus the 25% increasing the amount of procs per vial by 25%!
