Default Re: Dirge solo/farm gear

I would say samedai that we were are singers...do you see a singer on tv and think 'whoa he's rock hard!' ?... Not to be beligerant but still, you see chopper or who-the-hell-else on tv who does kong-fu and whatever and you think 'they're a bit duff'...both are popular just in different ways. Singers get people enthused about events and chopper is the event, so to speak.

To put this in terms of EQ2, the bards get everyone buzzed up and ready for action whilst the assassins deal the dirt. Dirge's, as a class, are supposed to be by definition the ones who depress enemies and arouse friends (take that as you will ;)). This is why we are 'utility' as such.

Anyone playing a coercer and parsing over the wizards isn't focusing on their main task i would say, they ARE supposed to be doing similar to us, but in effect, it's bards who are support, dirge for melee and troub for casters. Hard to face but the truth

I hate to say this also but we only get damaging abilities at all so that we can stick up for ourselves, but it's like we are trained by fingertips or 'musical' technique and assassins are trained by wrist/arm or 'movement' technique, for want of a better way to put it.

It's just how it is

At least we can parse well atm compared to some other classes that are supposed to be dps...

While standing toe to toe with heroic content isn't really going to happen for dirges, we are pretty well suited to kiting. Between the emotional dirge debuff (unbreakable encounter snare which i'll usually throw the magic debuff first if it is an encounter seems to get resisted a bit), keen tactics single target snare and deprivating shot (root) we've got more than enough tools to kite even in tight quarters.

With 6 aa's put into the in-combat run speed just with emotional dirge on you're going to be outrunning the mobs. Cheap shot + howl of death/siphon blade will help (albeit not much) regen hp. Imo work on ranged crit + da, don't really have the long range spell power to burn it down without blowing through power. I'll usually keep banshee and lanet's on with a shriek if i'm good on power.

Need lots and lots of potions for dots and snares on you. Anything that stuns can get sketchy. Anywho good luck with whatever you do choose.

P.S. Polyphemus in Moors is a fun mob to kite ... for the first 30 mins ;)

Exactly!! Ugh, OMG!!

I would say a good dirge kiter is a dude that is able to kill quickly while getting hit very little. The bad kiters are the boring asses that think kiting mobs for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes makes ya a good kiter! Ugh. LOL !! I bet ya any character can kite if they got a good root, fear, mez, or slow movement debuffs.

As far as gear goes I'll have a look at my Ranger when I get home - I have an entire bag of gear that I pretty much keep for playing with procs: belts with snares, wrists with stuns etc. Know it's easier on the ranger because you can use fettering poisen but you cen easily keep a mob from touching you with the right gear.

procs being nerfed apparently :/

and...if you're lucky in a palace run...
\aITEM 196938529 535272706 -1011752533:[Indestructible Obliterator's Shackle]\/a

I run with some not-so-hard-to-PUR gear too:

\aITEM 297067166 -1221636663:[Treasureseeker's Band]\/a

\aITEM 1667730261 -2034450721 829059987:[Nox Noctis]\/a

the last one is debatable, easy to get but not many like due to the slightly less delay. I'm using that until i get the axe off thet.
