Dirge solo/farm gear
Most of the threads are focused on DPS items.
Right now, I'mspending much time doing solo quests. Also, I want to be able to farm some instnced nameds to get M1's for me.
So, can anyone advice on what I should be looking for (heal procs, stun procs etc.) and where to get good solo/farm gear, please? May be some samples?
Thanks

Re: Dirge solo/farm gear
Sorry, I can not answer your quesitons directly. However, my bet would you need to get into a raid gear. T8 is rough for a non-raid equipped dirge and you will have to kite ALOT making encounters into, i bet ya, at least 3 minute encounters for just regular heroic mobs.
I am raid DPS geared, dual wield and able to tear up regular solo quest quite easy.
Keep in mind, Dirges were never great soloers from the beginning. Below tier5, at best, lower tier raid equiped and mastered, ya were able to solo blue con dungeon names. Below tier5, there are some white con overland names ya can solo with a bit of extensive kiting.
IMO, Kitting, ugh!
Yeah, and you'll definately use a different combat routine for soloing compared to DPSing.
I don't know. T8 opens up possibilities i bet with the kool new item effects t8 provide for heals, stuns, dazes, stifles, etc.

Re: Dirge solo/farm gear
Thanks. I have no problems with solo quests, but even green ^^^ heroics are way too tough for me. May be it is limitation of our class...

Re: Dirge solo/farm gear
our class isn't very good solo really.
I would reccommend taking on mobs that have a huge amount of space around them, as i can only see us soloing heroics by kiting. Doing this, i soloed a lvl 83 heroic. You simply need to remember to use Keen Tactics and Deprivating Shot.
Heroics aren't meant to be soloed easily, thus why they are heroic. Some you may need help with.
But soloing, you may need to consider casting order more than gear. Opening with Deprivating shot and then getting the debuffs in before they get to you could be key until you do get gear that is a bit more sturdy which allows you to kill the mob quicker.
Also examine a few little extras on a couple of your spells as this can be handy (ie Grim Strike you don't need to be behind the mob etc, Deprivating shot roots, Keen Tactics slows mob down, as does claras[or one of the 4 encounter debuffs])

Re: Dirge solo/farm gear
Yeah, I love soloing as a Dirge. Definite challenge. All about dancing so the mob does not hit you. If your shield bash, stun, Chimes, and fear land well, then you can go toe to toe quite well with a heroic dungeon name below tier5, but, like i said, much changes at tier5 and higher (i.e., kiting more). Gear and spell/ca quality makes a huge difference unless i guess if ya kitting like crazy making the encounter durations around 5 minutes. ugh.

I wish this was true. Other classes such as Brawlers, Brigands, Summoners, Chanters, and Shamans to name a few are definitely capable of soloing higher level heroic mobs tremendously noticeably easier.

Re: Dirge solo/farm gear
can i just add by dirges ^-^.
Seriously, we aren't made to be 'heroic' soloers, we are made to be purely support and need to have the ability to dps to advance. We may not be good soloers, but think of how useful we are in raids compared to other classes.

Re: Dirge solo/farm gear
lol as good as brigands are, i wouldn't make one to 'farm', personally would go SK as they can take a beating and deal good damage themselves (and a lot of life tap abilities). When we duo SKs we normally have no problems
but brigands are better soloers than dirges hehehe

i don't mean this as an attack on you kieran, but i hate this attitude. why are bards considered "just utility" and any dps we pound out is an added bonus? this seems to be the attitudes of the dev's as well. yet, the mage utility class (chanters) are pounding out dps that rivals the wizards and assassins in the guild. fucking soe!!!

It's because Lockeye and now Aeralik, and whoever the fuck is running the show as the Project Manager, balance classes based on the median instead of the top end.
Fortunately for Enchanters, 99% of them are so god awful that it brings the average numbers way down.
To be honest, we're kind of lucky most Bards in general are terrible, too.
It seems in general that utility classes attract the average gamer that is more interested in buffing and pressing a few random buttons while socialzing in group/voice chat instead of min/maxing.
