BAck after 14 months, few quick Qs

Hey, been away a looooong time, and before that I mostly just put my dirge on AF to buff bot etc. Anyway, been back 3 days and already bored of my Ranger so here goes:

1. Have 100 AA from pre TSO, how important are the new ones?
2. Friend linked the Mythic Dirge weapon this morning - is it worth the effort to get, and how many play hours does it take?
3. If my play time is relatively short and mostly taken up by getting my Myth, what are the 3-4 pieces of TSO quest/instance gear I HAVE to own?

1. The new AA's are quite good, but you will need to get about 130 + for them to start becoming really useful. Easy enough to get with the new TSO questlines and i assume you haven't finished RoK quest line with 100, and that can easily get you to 120 before TSO, if not 130.
2. ALL epic weapons are worth investing time in. I am in a guild who helped me from the second i turned 80, it took me 3 hours play time (I dinged 80 in the place that my epic starter drops which helped, but not everyone is as lucky). Dirge epic quest
3. A few nice loot threads in the dirge forum. this and this to just mention a few.

For me, I would say shoulders/gloves/BP/legs, but it shouldn't take long to get full T2 TSO set, I personally wouldn't invest in any T1 jewellry and go straight for the T2 jewellry and just build up your crits alongside each other (DA > MC > SC) sorta thing using jewellry. BP and gloves are probably best tho m8.

Shadow tree is much better than the EoF tree. It is definately worth it. Shouldn't be too hard to get 150-160 by questing RoK / TSO. Respec your EoF tree and plug some AA into your Bard and Shadow trees.

Epic is easy to obtain. Only a few steps require a group and those can be done in a few hours time. Can be kinda of hard to find groups for the old RoK instances though. Most people are doing the TSO zones. ~4-6 hours

Myth is a must-have, but unless you raid you are outta luck.

If you are a casual player, obtaining AA via questing is easy. RoK and TSO are extremely solo-friendly when it comes to quests.

You won't be able to get your epic/myth until you are 80 so don't sweat it until then. Just grind the quests in RoK and TSO. Those will fit into your casual play nature quite easily.

As far as TSO gear, the greater shard gloves (38 haste) and breastplate (proc increaser) are a MUST. That will cost ya about 35-40 shards / 10-20 instance runs. The other shard pieces are replacable/filler.

There is a TSO signature quest line which requires a lot of time/effort to complete. But the rewards (fabled drum & fabled cloak) are well worth it.

Just a quick one - as someone who's been away an age and still hasnt really even looked at TSO - what are shards? Way I understand it it's like the Daily Heroics in WoW?

The shard are rewards for the heroic content in TSO which can be used to buy armor and some other stuff of merchants in the new zones. Every instance has a corresponding daily quest that gives a shard and there is a chest somewhere in the instance to get another. Every day there is a Daily Double quest that will reward 2 extra shards.

yeah something like that.

You can earn up to 20 shards a day (if you have a really sad life and nothing to do all day) and with those shards you can get armour/jewellry etc. I work on getting about 10 a day tops although most people ~ 5/6. Most expensive piece of armour is T2 shoulders for 30 shards... but I would personally go Gloves + Chest first and then work towards the rest.

btw apparently solo quests are coming out for shards as people are complaining about not being good enough to group (especially tanks with pre-TSO treasured gear) so can't even get on the ladder to get the shards in the first place (and we really are talking players that are struggling, ie they can't tank any of the LS/CL/EF instances). This will be useful for most people I would assume, although there are a lot of nice instance items to be looted

OR find yourself a crafter that has the TSO recipes. This will save you a few shards per piece.
