Because the drum as is, is already a beastly item. If they made it a bow or throwing weapon then it would be too amazing. In order for it to be a bow or throwing weapon they would have had to make the passive stats less desirable.

Making it a weapon or a shield would make the drum item out of balance. The drum's proc averages 3-4% of total parse damage in addition to the nice blue stats and song duration buff. Adding mitigation (like a shield) or a DR like a bow/sword would really make it too powerful so would have to nerf the blue stats, proc, or song duration buff.

If ya look at the sig quest rewards, then ya notice that they're not great items. A bud of mine uses his as an appearance item. lol. Bards got a good deal out of the sig quest.

Very easy to use a macro to switch in a very nice bow when i range attack then equip it out with the same macro.

Still does not answer why ya thought an adornment made for ranged/throwing weapon would work on a symbol since the drum has all of the characteristics of a symbol.

bubbacajun I think he was pointing out all possibilities for that drum to be... but since it says right on it SYMBOL, you are a dumbass for not reading... besides that, the drum is badass. Like you said, make a macro to switch it out... i just use the bow shot to macro my bow back in when i need it.

Indeed the passives are amazing. I should be thankful we have such an item i guess. I'll just learn to switch it while a spell is casting so it doesnt slow down the dps/control in pvp. Its just annoying cause there is a cooldown on switching weapons/shields in pvp so it can become problematic (I think its 2 seconds). Sigh just another timing ill have to learn. Usually happens to me when i go from dual wield to shield for shield bash and lend shielding back to dual wield.

Guess my boomrang bandolier is strictly just a clicky now.

its the time delay between switching out gear... that has not changed since the LU 13... 4 seconds.

And when he talked about switching out the bow, its not for dps, its for kiting in pvp. I have a drum slot in ranged and dragonhawk in ranged macro right next to each other, and switch when i cob and run in.
