Hey guys, love the forum, thanks for all the great info.

One question I had that I wasn't able to find by searching was this:

What is the most efficient solo spec pre-70 in the Bard tree?

I am currently speced like this and using a Shield:

Agi - 4-1
Sta - 4-4-4-8
Wis - 4-4-6-8-2

Would I be better off forgoing the DA buffs (i do group some) and going with a DW spec like this?

Agi - 5-4-8-8
Wis - 4-4-6-8-2


Or am I wrong on both?

for grouping yes, I solo'd all w/o Sta spec...its do-able. Just kite a bit more.

Use the 1st spec but drop the shield. Use 3.0+ delay weapons (ideally 4.0). If you get low on health then kite, but using a shield will slow you down.

Definitely first spec for leveling (and end-game too actually). For grouping, the group-wide DA is very nice and harder to come by than crits as most other classes have AA lines that add that. For soloing, you have the option to equip a shield or DW depending on the situation and what kind of gear you can acquire. You can kite effectively in any spec and gear, so don't worry about that. Quest mobs, though, are packed closely enough that kiting isn't feasible and they hit hard enough that DW doesn't cut it. A shield helps alot there as you can knockdown and get in the rear-attacks. Note, if you get a fabled weapon, the extra DW from equiping a shield will make it better dps than dw fabled+legendary unless the legardary is really good and it matches the delay on the fabled.

You can swap a shield in for shield bash and macro it to be automated pretty easily. The 30% DA is negligible since you gain a 2nd weapon.

EDIT:

On the macro for the Shield Bash, would you just set up a second macro to re-equip your second weapon? or is there someway to do it with one macro that I don't know about?

If you insist going out of STA line, I would at least get Rhythm Blade:

AGI - 4-4-4-8
WIS - 4-4-6-8-2
INT - 4-1

Have you been able to create a single macro for swapping-in/use ability/swapping-out?

I used to think that it was not doable (well at least for activable objects) but dunno/never tried for smth like a buckler... I always had to use a second macro to re-equip previous item.

Well possibly I'll try that when logging in tonight
