Dirge of Death

As far as my suggestion of original Artwork that apparently has been addressed elsewhere, in the god knows what thread, it still seems like a better idea then the images I've seen so far.

If you had some point as to why that was or wasn't being used, it was sort of lost cause you instead feel like the appropriate response is to call me out on not reading every thread/post on these forums... I have no real rebuttal to that, my time can be spent better then reading the thousands of posts that have been put on here that aren't of immediate interest to me.

I gave a couple of suggestions though, such as taking submissions for tag lines from players on the actual servers, possibly looking at who is voting in the threads, I don't know every player, but there are several that voted on the Everfrost slogan that don't play here and their voting reflected it as their choices made no sense for our server. And the other one of my suggestions was to take original artwork submissions.

I didn't say you weren't putting time into this I'm just saying that given the time you're putting into this, they could be much better. If players that play on the servers were actually creating/voting on their slogan there's seems like alot better chance of them appealing to them, and people buying them. Same goes for image design, with the thousands of players that play and frequent the site I'm sure there are some very talented ones that would be willing to lend their artistic skills to this project, and a design illustrated by a fellow player would make for alot cooler dirge shirt, then a generic flaming skeleton with guitar picture and "eq2 dirge" scrawled across the top.

My initial post was rude, in the spirit of eq2flames. But I feel like my responses since then have been sincere and offering constructive criticism.

Anyway feel free to nit-pick the shit out of this post too and find where it was addressed in random posts that I didn't read.

Good idea on the contest then, excuse me for not noticing it.

There was no sense of entitlement, if anything my suggestions would have made the responsibility lay more on the server/class communities then you. From what I could gather the point of the Tshirts was to make a unique piece for each server that represented them. If I misunderstood the intentions so be it, but I don't see how the way it was implemented achieved this. All I've been saying is that by placing the limitations that you have on them it doesn't make them unique or representative of our communities. It makes them "which of these 20 choices is still left?... #4 ok theat one can go to Everfrost"... It just seems like the implementation defeated the purpose.

Anyway, I used piss poor to describe your implementation and otherwise have been pretty civil, so your responses seem pretty uncalled for.

how this whole epic of cheeze started was I made 2 shirts one for kithicor and one for unrest because I have toons on both of these server and lfg ask me to make one for each server. there was no grand plan other then that.

I didn't know what captions to use so a hasty poll was put up with a very short time to vote because we wanted to get the designs finished over the weekend. I think the real mistake in implementation was actually asking for site participation. the problem happened when the polls listed several of the same taglines, when i put the shirt designs together I decided who won in the event of a tie.

had we not ask for input, and just issued shirt designs we wouldnt have to wade through the whining of malcontents, most of which had no intention of purchasing a shirt no matter what it said.

Now if you dont like my shirts or the captions, dont buy one, its really that simple. there is a contest going on, make a design of your own exactly the way you want it and demonstrate your not one of the useless whiners who cant originate any productive action of their own but can bitch and moan like a 2 dollar whore when someone else does.

Sure, I'd be more then willing to enter a design.

I guess the project could have been taken two different ways as you point out, that you could have just made them, with sole creative responsibility or asked the servers to put come up with it, either way is valid they are your shirts.

Also Bitmap if you or LFG could be so kind as to link me the thread concerning said user Tshirt designing, I looked at the first two pages General Gameplay and Fansite News and Announcements and didn't see it; I also searched "design" and didn't see it.

I just wanted to know whether there were limitations to # of colors/words, image size, what the deadline was for it, etc.

I would suggest reading the complete thread as some things have changed. but basically the parameters are anything you can fit in 2000 x 2000 dpi that is legal to wear in public, saved out as png file. no trademarks or copyrights you cant call your own, this includes the the names everquest2 or soe or sony, cafepress is a trademark nazi also be careful about parody, they will pull anything even remotely resembling a trademark and their appeals process is a dead end. use rgb color space. get your deadline from the thread.

I think the limitations were due to them wanting to have the shirts at fanfaire which is only a few weeks off. Looked like a last minute idea that was thrown together ad hoc. If it goes over well at this fanfaire they will probably have a more involved contest/poll or something for next year/sometime in the future.

Thank you - that's exactly what I would have said if I hadn't felt angry after reading some of the responses.

This was last minute and I wanted to get them up immediately for the Fan Faire. The clusterfuck here is my doing, not Bitmap's. Had we waited and put more time in this, the window of opportunity for Fan Faire would have been lost, because it takes 5 to 10 days to get delivery of a shirt once it's been ordered. Also, it was Saturday, and I wanted to raid with my guild instead of working on the site all day.
