sorry for the (somewhat) necropost.

I just watched the movie and the only thing i could think during 90% of the movie was that its such a blatant ripoff of the 28 series (28 days later, 28 weeks later ...).

Yeah i know its based on a book and its essentially a remake of a remake but still it feels like they watched 28 days and said "I want this ... but with a more lonely feel .. oh and we got to have Will Smith driving a GT".

I guess it was still an "ok" movie but even though i never did myself i suggest reading the book, skipping the movie and then go and get 28 days/weeks instead :D

Yeah i know but i don't really see any reason to do a remake like this so close to the success of 28 days/weeks other then to try to cash in on the same crowd. As you said the book has been there for 50 years, why now? (ok its the third remake of the same book but still)

Also from what i understand about the book this movie has almost nothing in common with the story. In the book they were intelligent vampires, but in the movie they are sort of a cross between vampires and the zombies in 28 days. The method they become infected is also somewhat similar (and also different from the book if im not mistaken).

There is no comparison really between the book and the movie. I'd have to agree that they were just trying to cash in on the Zombie movie era.
