Meh, I'm honestly not sure if the first few lines of a book has ever given me just cause to actually read it but one of my favourite quotes from a book (the quote is from a poem) would happen to be...

I like that poem. It is Ode by Arthur O'Shaughnessy isn't it? I've never read the book though; just seen the poem around.
