Comp USA going out of business?
So I moved to Jacksonville, FL for another work promotion, and I haven't really been out to scout the lay of the land to find a computer components store like FRY's or Micro Center around this area, because I know neither of these are here.
I go onto Comp USA's website, and see that all their stores are under liquidation?
Anyone have any more information about this? I would prefer some inside information if possible. (I.E. someone that followed it, worked/works there)

Re: Comp USA going out of business?
I know the one on Southside in Jacksonville is going out of business. Not sure about the whole store, though.
Oh and welcome to Jax, but it sucks, just letting you know! lol

Re: Comp USA going out of business?
Theyve been having trouble for a while. they got bought out by a big busiiness in Boston in November last year. After the holiday rush they decided to shut them all down so by summer no more Comp usa's
It really blows for those of us that purchased PCs from them in the past and the 3 yr warranty with it. Now We <myself included> can't get our machines fixed or replacement parts. BBB wont do a thing since the company is going under and tech support says call the complaint line but they dont answer so...yeah it blows...

Re: Comp USA going out of business?
Uhh, isn't this like really old news? Like, 3 months ago news even.
End of the line for CompUSA / 103 stores to be sold or closed after holiday sales
Yah, it is......... I'm amazed not that many people know about it.

Re: Comp USA going out of business?
Yeah, CompUSA owned The Good Guys that went out of business about 2-3 years ago.
We purchased an entertainment center from TGG and had a lot of issues with their installation contractor and ended up going through the BBB to get shit fixed and they mentioned TGG was being liquidated and CompUSA was next.

Re: Comp USA going out of business?
Used to have CompUSA all over the place here in Seattle. They all closed last year. As someone who's been working with computers for almost a decade and a half, I can't help but look at their closing with a little sadness. Before you could buy anything and everything online and they carried computer parts and cables at places like Fred Meyer and Wal-Mart, pretty much your only options around here to buy computer parts from either CompuUSA, Computer City, or a number of small PC shops that all seemed to close at around 6:00. You could get better prices at the independant shops, but if you needed a printer cable at 8:30 on a Saturday night, it was nice to have a CompUSA around.
