My best friend just got back from his latest deployment and he says much of the same things (though hes in the AF so he doesn't actually get shot at, hes a gunner on the AC-130 Spooky gunship)
Its really awesome to talk to soldiers who've spent significant periods of time over there and while the whole premise of this war is up for heated debate, its important to appreciate what our family and friends in the armed forces are going through over there, and that they often believe they're doing some good for the innocent children in the middle east.
When I was there, we no shit went to a little community near us and built a school, and helped get supplies for it. It was neat, because no matter how you look at it, the kids are the only ones who don't deserve any of this.

What about the innocent children they leave at home?
YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT WHAT FULL ON FUCKING PISSES ME OFF...
No... and FUCK NO! I ran accross this today and the thoughts just seemed to connect when I read feef's post (finally catching up on some board trolling). It probably didn't have much reason to be included in this thread or as a response to Feef but, it was "moving" for me as a father and seemed to need to be added to the "Watch this..." thread at the time.
In fact, putting myself in the father's shoes while watching this I irl teared up and expect any real man to do the same. I truly expected that at 04:27 it was next going to say that after her father returned from war and buried his daughter, he is now serving 30 years in prison for justly putting and end to her stepfather. (spoiler btw... best you don't watch that youtube I linked. rly)
