I didn't say I dislike those three cords, in fact, I love them as much as any THING can be loved by a person I 'supose...

Blues is the modern universal language of music. I've never sat down to a jam with a crew of unacquainted musicians that wasn't able to instantly hammer out some improvised 12 bar blues... Listen to some Billie and if you can't hear the pain that was her life you have no business listening to music.

...it's not only the music of Jazz, it's the lives of the players that draws you in. I'm pretty eclectic really and have a passion for music of all kinds. Strangely I have to know where things come from, especially things that ignite emotion...

The older I get and the more I learn, the less I like lyrical music because words just cheat. To judge composition you may not know what the writer was thinking but, you should be able to feel what they were feeling. Try to take the words out of what you listen to an see how your music sounds.

As you dive into modern music you will find that it was the turmoil of many lives that brought that single heart-changing melody to life. The origin was paved by the Birth of Cool for today's hippity-hop, metal, trance bass lines, and even Hanna Montana... we know you love her Emanji so I didn't want to leave her out. /thumbs-up
You're preaching to the choir with Billie. As far as where that line between jazz & blues blurs, she's ground zero in my book. It's were I found my first non-standard turnaround. It was from that jumping off point that I found anything was possible.

And that voice...good lord.
